I hope this wouldn’t be the case, since they’re clearly building this as a open-ended continuation of the Hitman 3 story, or at least in a What If capacity, but the animation team have made mistakes before… (see: Special Assignment Elusive Target logo)
I have a laptop, but it’s really terrible, if i somehow do get it up and running again i might submit a freelancer interest thingy
I of course watch the 10 mins of Freelancer video 6 times an hour and use the extra 42s (10:00-9:53 * 6) to sleep because of my hype. My point is I’ve been looking at the more intricate details, and there’s one thing I can’t quite figure out.
What’s that at the bottom of the screen in the background of this frame? Might be a bit dark to figure out fully but any suggestion’s welcome
It looks like Hills and some sorta smoke
It’s the hill he chose to die on.
Like others have pointed out, it seems likely that Diana and 47 are rebuilding a new ICA (which currently only consists of themselves) or this is simply an error or placeholder and will be removed from the final version of Freelancer when it launches?
Im hoping IOI pick up on this to be fair.
Like I’ve said above, if it’s not part of Diana and 47 rebuilding their own ICA then it certainly doesn’t make any sense considering 47 and Diana broke off from the original ICA during the WOA story?
Again as mentioned above, it could indeed be a placeholder for something else for the final version of Freelancer? Anything can change between now and launch.
Well, they didn’t really break off so much as go behind ICA’s backs and hope they didn’t notice, with the intention of returning to them when it was all over. Edwards tattling on them ruined that.
Time index 2:11 for anyone wanting to see that in the vid.
I know we can see the map in the background. So I feel that it’s in the basement.
I can’t say for certain, but it makes me think of debris, like stuff (rocks/stones?) that have fallen. The steam would likely be from pipes.
I don’t know if failing a campaign would lead to your safehouse being compromised… Maybe it got attacked. That doesn’t seem likely, so… I dunno.
it might not be set after Hitman 3 because the devs will probably want to for now have players decide what ending they want to have went with in Romania
Anything that happens after the events of Hitman 3 is new game territory.
Gmail, coffe, spaming F5 and have lovely day!
And since Freelancer is essentially a whole new game inside a game, I’d say we’re looking at just that.
I don’t understand why people try force to find in Freelancer mode a connections or integrity with lore / franchise. You shouldn’t. Freelancer is a option for developers to extent a replayabiity and life for game and decrase amount of work for them with creating a new content. Basicly - they made a new tool to create better content in fastest and easiler way, so they can transfer more people resources to 007 game. It 'is a very wise businness move.
People trying to explain it when it set, before, in between or after are funny. It doesn’t make sense at all. Just deal with it its just a gameplay expansion without a deeper meaning in lore.
Can’t wait to try it - it looks better thay I could even imagine! And it’s pitty that wasn’t a base inovation in game instead of these silly escalations and arcade mode. (I demand an invitation! :D)
And you don’t have to understand. You just have to accept that people do. And there’s a reason for it. Like it or not, Hitman has a story. Now, here’s a whole bunch of adventures we’re about to embark on, that have their own little stories woven into it, and die of us want to know how and why and when this is happening in relation to the story that we already know. It’s not something that’s just happening; contracts mode and escalations just happen. With the whole idea of a safehouse and entire organizations being brought down, there’s a story here, and we want to know more about it.
But answer is simple. ICA is closed / suspended, 47 is gone freelancing (obviously) and it’s just random new contracts without deeper meaning. But people digging this case unnecessary. And I’m sure IOI don’t answer this question now because making a story for that would bring another problems and confiusion, and they want focus on next project. So Freelancer is positioned in the near future. Simple as that Maybe in next years IOI will explain it, but for now - let’s treat as simple random contracts.
And how you’ll explain Escalations and Contracts? It doesn’t make sense at all according to lore. Treat Freelancer that same a spin-off and deal with it.
Nobody said it has deeper meaning, but this isn’t like escalations where random and arbitrary targets and objectives were chosen by IOI for the sake of giving players something to do. These are actual missions, albeit presented in a different way, that take place after the events of H3; actual events taking place in 47’s life, unlike the Elusive Targets and all but a few escalations. For those who would like to play the entire series in order, like following chapters in a story, want to know when these events will take place, and while at the moment it seems like it’s after H3, there’s a few things that don’t make it clear, so we are trying to figure out what things to just ignore, or what things indicate something else is happening, if Freelancer takes place in between the last game and the next. The ICA logo’s presence is a conundrum to that until we get more info. Not difficult to follow that.
I think the title ‘Freelancer’ gives a strong indication it’s likely set after Hitman 3.
Definition of Freelance:
- A form of self-employment, freelancers lend their skills and talents to a number of clients on a flexible basis. They aren’t employed by a company or committed to a single customer - freelancers have the freedom to choose the projects they’d like to work on and the clients they’d like to work for.*
No longer working for the ICA? The below photo from the Hitman 3 Campaign ending says it all, which I believe ties it to the theme of Freelancer.
47 is now in charge, not answering to anyone and decides what hits he takes up.
Like I’ve said already, I would be slightly confused if it was set in the middle of the WOA timeline whilst 47 is more or less working for the ICA, but the game mode is named Freelancer?
This guy has it nailed on!
47 ripping some assets from the ICA makes sense to start his work as Freelancer alogn with Diana. They already disposed of them so might aswell recover some stuff and use it in their own benefit.
Once again, it’s the thing that gets them to the thing…
