Sean Murray tweeted some Globe emojis recently. I assumed it was related to their next “One Procedural Planet” game, but no. Still! More! No Mans Sky additions!

I still gotta try this in VR, I’m sure the OLED really makes planets POP! :hugs:

IGN showing off a typical Ubisoft fetch quest.

This game so far has looked pretty enticing in official showcases, but this one was kinda ehhh…
Im also worried with how often they end up cutting out the “travel” sequences between locations. Like, is there just nothing interesting between Tattooine locations? No trinkets to find or random encounters to stumble on?

Now developers can potentially rerelease Skyrim. With terms.

Todd, please, for all that is holy, stop re-releasing Skyrim. I have like 4 or 5 copies of Skyrim already!

That’s… hmm…
I feel like some of the outrage against Yasuke for this game are a little overblown. Ubi didn’t need to issue a statement about this.

People want to play as an Asian protagonist? There is a second playable character.
People want to play as a MALE Asian Protagonist? There are tons of other games that feature Male Asian Protagonists, also depicted as samurai or ninjas.

Feels like a really weird case of racism (and maybe a bit of sexism) they’re getting so much flack for including this real historical figure in their fictionally historical game series.
I wasn’t aware of the series at the time, but I haven’t heard of any major outrage for a fist fight between The Pope and an Italian Assassin for a sci-fi golden apple for AC2. People actually like how fictionally weird that gets!

(Honestly what they should receive flack for is adding a Hip Hop trap beat to Yasuke’s combat theme as seen in the recent gameplay trailer. That’s really weird for a game set in Japan with a character who is not African American IMO )

This whole story reminds me of this meme

And maybe Ubi should do themselves a favor and just say that they don’t try to be historical accurate whenever they release a new AC game because some people out there just get the memo.

It’s Japan, what did you expect. I imagine most Asian countries are like that.

While he was a real person, it’s still debatable if Yasuke was a legit ninja or not but for a fictional game, who cares?

Did Afro Samurai ever got this kind of attention? Nvm, seems China wasn’t happy about it.

Yeah, Japanese people seem to be different when it comes to their history. It is up to them if they don’t want to buy it. In the end that is what matters, not what the publicity is before that.

Still, this “apology” is lots of words for saying “Sorry but we still do what we want”. :upside_down_face:

There are a lot of historical Figures in the Series, but they’re always side characters, not the playable character, maybe thats what rubs people the wrong way. But then again, people love to complain about shit.

I think the apology is directly related to a real life flag that was used without permission. It has nothing to do with the black character.

The controversy about Yasuke is dumb and nothing but weird racists shouting at the clouds.

It was kinda funny to see some white people try to justify their dislike of Yasuke by pretending to care about Asian representation.

The lady ninja is one of the best ninjas in fiction because I have never seen her get picked on by Gamers™.

You know what? I too could be Neenja

That’s really sad, and really suspicious from the higher-ups. Humble Games (at least I thought) were pretty darn successful with releasing high-quality, popular Indie games!

Also I looked up the owners of Humble, and they’re owned by Ziff Davis, a company that also owns things like IGN, Digital Foundry, Eurogamer, and a few other gaming media companies (among many other non-gaming companies) :frowning_with_open_mouth:
