I don’t blame them, they delayed that game like five times and changed the developers around halfway through or whatever.

To be fair, they only publish this one, not develop it, but yeah, their DLC policy will certainly be a more secure source of income (especially since they recently came up with a new strategy on how to get money through it).
Still, wish they had this sort of perseverence 10 years ago with East vs West…

Indeed. I mean on the one hand, as someone who lives abroad and simply couldn´t (nor wouldn´t want to, for a number of reasons) carry his entire inventory of physical discs with him, I am grateful for digital distribution. It´s an absolute lifesaver.
Sadly, digital releases lack any and all of the charm that came with the physical ones (oh how I long for the unique slideshows/videos/music that used to play during installation) and comes with the drawback of constantly risking delisting or downgrades due to licensing issues and remake/remaster releases (or just because), not to mention DRM and the always-online bullshit. At least GOG (and certain publisher platforms such as Matrix/Slitherine) allows for downloading and backing up the executables, but that really should become the norm rather than the exception (I wish, anyways 
).

Even if you buy physical, you need to apply patches, given the state of the games released nowadays. So we don’t have really much of a choice.
