There were some pretty neat announcements though, Gang of Dragon being my personal no. 1. I haven’t been really happy with the direction SEGA/RGG have been taking the Yakuza series in recently, so seeing OG Nagoshi working on an alternative makes me quite enthusiastic.
Ace Combat 8 was another umph for a jet nut like myself. And that Coven of the Chicken Foot thing (or whatever it was called) looked pretty charming too. And of course, a new Remedy game is always a plus.
Also, for a moment I thought Patient Zero Requiem would finally be another PZ-style mini campaign, but alas…
SAROS looks amazing for fans of Returnal. It’s basically… more Returnal with a different skin lol.
There even seems to be some strange out-of-place mysterious hotel corridor that will reveal major character backstory much like the mysterious old house in Returnal …GIMME!!
You may have noticed a mysterious corridor and bedroom which you will need to explore. In the interest of protecting our mystery I will let the trailer share what we want to share about our story so you can discover it ahead.
Also yay, Jane Perry returns to voice a character! Love that lady.
For fans of Selene Vassos from Returnal, the one and only Jane Perry is back as Sheridan Bouchard. Jerome Jackson is performed by fellow Aussie Ben Prendergast (Tyr in God of War: Ragnarok), Sebastian Torres is performed by David DeSantos, and you can hear the fantastic Adriyan Raye (South of Midnight) and Shunori Ramanthan in our trailer too. We have even more amazing cast members to share, they have all been exceptional.
Also, shown on the Playstation website are the suits you get for the pre-order and Deluxe editions.
Hands of Shore seems to be an original design for the pre-order, and the Deluxe suits are based off Returnal, God of War, and Ghost of Yotei, woohoo! Love the streak of red face-paint on the Midgard armour.
Imagine this: it comes pre-installed on the Steam Machine and for one year is not available anywhere else on any other storefront including Steam itself.
I’d say half-life fans aren’t crazy enough to potentially spend 1,000 dollars on something just for half-life but i remembered alyx exists and how pricey vr is so go on
Some TGA thoughts. New Tomb Raider looks nice, I’m glad they seem to be willing to let Lara be more like her classic self than the gritty reboot version. Saying that though, Tomb Raider is one of those game franchises I want to get properly into.
New Mega Man is good, I wish Capcom was willing to just commit to the future of the franchise though. Mega Man 11 came out 7 years ago, seemed like a fresh start, and then aside from some compilations the franchise seemed dormant again. So hope this time, the franchise can have a more constant presence. That and give us X9.
Criterion making a Star Wars racing game annoys me. I’m sure it’ll be good, and I’m sure plenty will enjoy it. But god, I just want Burnout to come back.
Resident Evil 9 looks fun, Leon coming back is cool.
So is IOI’s marketing strategy just to have big celebrity tie-ins? Couldn’t use TGAs to make a cool, memorable trailer, you just show off a celebrity, who might not even be in the game for that long? I don’t get it. 009 is going to be played by a celebrity actor, aren’t they?
Total War: Warhammer 40K is a long time coming, and looks like a ton of fun. Kind of game I want to get a new PC to play. No Chaos faction at launch does seem a bit odd, and sadly my favourite faction, the T’au Empire, isn’t here. But I’m sure this will sell well, and with Creative Assembly still making DLC for Total War: Warhammer III 3 years after launch, I’m sure a bunch more factions will arrive in DLC over time.
Friendly reminder RE9 is meant to be the bookend of everything that happened prior. I strongly recommend anyone interested in this game to go in blind. Leon was rumored for awhile now and his name has been thrown around by leakers as well.
The leaks have only been reinforced when things got confirmed and RE9 is looking to make some big and bold decisions that will affect the series going forward.
If any of y’all are fans of classic Flash games, you probably know who Nitrome is. Well today, they announced their new Nitrome Classics series! They’re remaking some of their flash games with 60 FPS, widescreen, remastered visuals, and a bunch of new content for PC, mobile, and Switch!
The three entries announced so far are:
Twin Shot Deluxe - All of Twin Shot 1 and 2’s levels, plus a brand new 50-level Atlantis world, new tweaks and skins, and an expanded local co-op. This one will be released first, and it already has a Steam page up.
Silly Sausage - A collection of the original Silly Sausage flash game, plus the mobile games Silly Sausage in Meat Land and Silly Sausage: Doggy Dessert. I don’t think any new content was shown off for them in the trailer, but I’m at least glad more of Nitrome’s games aren’t locked to just mobile devices!
Skywire - I’m assuming it includes both Skywire 1 and 2’s levels even though the trailer just shows Skywire 2 stuff. Probably won’t have Skywire VIP games due to copyright. But it also seems to have a new world of levels with brand new hazards to face off against!
Honestly this is a dream come true for me, to finally be getting new content for these games after so many years! I just hope they choose a reasonable price for them considering they’re based on games that were available for free, and they seem to be making quite a few of them. If they charge $5 for each remake of their 140-ish games, then that’s gonna add up quite fast.
