We’re about 12 hours from the (probable) launch of Artemis II, which will be the first time humans have flown to the moon in over 50 years. It is one of three test flights being made in preparation for Artemis IV’s moon landing in late 2028.
Artemis’ trip around the moon will be the furthest and fastest mankind has travelled from Earth. On board will be pilot Victor Glover, the first person of color to leave low Earth orbit; mission specialist Christina Koch, the first woman to do the same; mission specialist Jeremy Hansen, the first Canadian
(and first non-US citizen) and commander Reid Wiseman, the token white male American.
