EDIT: I keep hearing this whenever I look at him:

I love it, it gives off the sort of “Vigo the Carpathian” vibes the older Royals usually put out there.

In all seriousness I see it as a very tame version of a Lucien Freud painting, a lot of people are saying it gives them Francis Bacon vibes but I don’t really see it beyond the application of visceral colouration.

Can’t lie either, that looks awesome.

America has always been in a sad condition, there’s just never been as many people so aware of it as there is now. I confess to having been one of those people until the most recent half of my life.

Six months ago the Netherlands held a general election and elected a new parliament. In a surprise the far-right PVV won a plurality of seats becoming the largest party. Despite this there wasn’t a clear path forward for the PVV and its leader Geert Wilders to form a coalition government. First round of talks began with the PVV, VVD (center-right), NSC (center), and BBB (right-winged). While the BBB were immediately open to talks the NSC and outgoing PM Mark Rutte’s VVD were reluctant. In February these talks would collapse after the NSC pulled out. Despite this a second round of talks started between the 4 parties and finally on May 15th all the parties had reached an agreement. To reach this point though Geert Wilders was forced to accept he won’t become Prime Minister along with many policy concessions.

The final remaining hurdles for the PVV to finally enter government is selecting a new Prime Minister and successfully forming a government. To fill the position of Prime Minister Geert Wilders is pushing for Ronald Plasterk a former Minister and member of the Labour Party a social democratic center-left political party not part of the soon to be government. Ronald Plasterk also served as scout and informatuer to help find possible coalitions. Though it’s still unclear if Plasterk will become Prime Minister as he is facing resistance from the NSC & VVD. The other hurdle will be actually putting Wilders agreement into force and forming a government which will likely take multiple more weeks.

Another thing to consider also is in Dutch politics it’s not unheard of for the cabinet to fall (such as Rutte’s final government). So if they can’t govern at all the Netherlands could head towards snap elections.

Traveling with Raisi were Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, the governor of Iran’s East Azerbaijan province and other officials and bodyguards, the state-run IRNA news agency reported.

Raisi, 63 is a hard-liner who formerly led the country’s judiciary. He is viewed as a protégé of Khamenei and some analysts have suggested he could replace the 85-year-old leader after his death or resignation from the role.

Please join Iranians all over the world and pray bears will eat the shit out of him

His son Mojtaba is the successor, everyone knows that.

Sorry for the double post but Raisi is directly responsible for the execution of over 3000 opposers in the late 80s, and that’s just one example. A colleague of his in that event, Hamid Nouri, is currently under Swedish custody.

Bears got him.

(Not technically confirmed, but from what the wreckage looks like it could be because identifications will prove complex)

  • By succession rules, the vice president Muhammad Mukhbar is now presumed the acting President.

  • By law a presidential election must be held within 50 days.

  • A Temporary Presidential Council composed of the Speaker of the Assembly, the Head of Judiciary, and the First Vice President will organise it.

  • Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran Foreign Minister since 2021, is also certainly dead, and will need a successor.

This is gigantic news. What a weird and random world we live in. We stay glued to the dailies hoping for some change in fate or fortune, when out of nowhere a complicated and weighty accident comes to rock the international order. Or will it?
