Based on the mass firings, he’s determined to make it substantially more a shit-show than his first term. Between him apparently getting rid of every person qualified to hold a senior position (so there’s nobody to say no) and his deluge of executive orders that give the new appointees 30 - 60 days to achieve arbitrary goals I think it’s safe to say they’ll be pouring out a lot of glitter to try to bury the turds.

Trump is back, that much is factual. He is again president. Is America back? As far as I can tell the country never went anywhere. It’s been here between Canada and Mexico my whole life

And it was never the best country in the world unless you were a wealthy white straight man. It has the potential to be; always has. But it’s never been there, and Trump is playing into that propaganda that was pounded into the heads of us suburban white Americans since birth that we’ve somehow lost it and have to reclaim it, and that it’s somehow the fault of all the women, non-whites, non-straights, etc.
Sometimes I’m truly embarrassed to be human.

The ADL is alreadyy regretting given Musk a hall pass, as naturally he has accepted the offered inch and taken miles on top of that.

Honestly, Gabbard’s kept her head down after Trump won. Who knows, maybe she’ll slip through the cracks for the next four years.
I know one or two things. If I may.
First she put for the DNI.
So anything on her opinions for internal US politic is a bit out of focus, besides it’s not what she herself wants to work on.
As for the DEI-bit, I will ignore it, because it feels like a failed zinger.
As for intelligence work and Foreign Policy she’s in direct line to Trump.
Both of them are anti-American Exceptionalism.
That is one of the few things on which Donald Trump has been consistent on, for decades.
It’s also why she looks out of left field. American Exceptionalism was fundamental to US conservatism until Trump. Opposition to it was always present in the most American critical side of the left.
Trump changed that.
In action it means she was on the side of Assad, and friendly to Putin. A regular to their meetings and other gathering events.
Politically she has been in those circle for a long time.
Inner circle creating time, behaviour shaping time, incentives forming time, assets building time.
So she’s looked at suspiciously by a lot of US historical allies, mostly Europe. Untrustworthy to share information with.
Still workable though. Especially since Russia is loosing its economical appeal, and Syria civil war was won by the insurgents. So if she’s still ideological independent and not beholden to adversaries interests, she might shift preferences. A large if though.

Would you look at that, that’s some damn fine peace in the Middle East he’s going for, like he said. Of course, only utter idiots never understood that his idea of peace is to just kill or drive out everyone from Palestine so Israel will let him build his hotels and resorts on the land and turn it into a tourist industry. Sounds about white.

I think what astonishes me about American Politics and by extension the American People who take part in their civic duty of voting is either you’re voting for selfish reasons hoping the next four years are an improvement for your way of living, you voted but your vote was determined by misinformation or propaganda, or you voted cause you lean a specific way and your devotion to that party is unwavering.
Personally I don’t expect people to dedicate themselves to the plethora of information out there, but boy this gonna be a reap what you sow type of four years

And all of those reasons, and their outcomes, are because we allowed rich people to be involved in our government. As a result, our government is a government of, by, and for the (rich) people.
