It is just like Benghazi only there won’t be 23 hearings over it. You will be lucky if you even get one.
You remember the Thug Shaker Incident? Well we now have the Boston Shaker Incident.
I hope this whole thing really drives home the greater point to take from this. It’s an important thing that I don’t think most people really understand or realize, no matter what side of the political aisle you’re on, no matter whether you support this administration or not. The greater, more important point to take from this whole fiasco is this: from those elected into their positions, to those nominated to their positions, to the advisers and staffers for those in their positions, the people running the government, in both the White House administration and in Congress, the people in the Republican Party who are running things, are the dumbest people in the country.
Forget how evil they are, how greedy and full of hate for anyone different from the straight white male power structure they are, set that aside. Those things are horrible on their own, but those can be mitigated and navigated. We can deal with people who do stuff like that, and it typically only directly affects whose who they deliberately target, with the rest of us being affected in a more long-term, abstract kind of way.
Focus for now only on how utterly stupid all these people are. These people are so incredibly dumb. They don’t know how to lead, they don’t know how to govern, they don’t know how things work, they don’t know how the government is meant to function, they don’t know what the constitution says, they don’t know how the law works, they don’t know how elections work, they don’t know how taxes work, and on and on.
These people were coddled their whole lives, many of them, and have people around them telling them they’re doing a good job when they’re not and they’re used to just paying for problems to go away. They focus on culture war nonsense and use buzzwords like DEI and socialism and communism and woke and so on, because they can’t talk about anything else, because they reveal how dumb they are every time when they get into discussions with democrats or journalists about something that actually matters.
This thing with the military secrets being spilled is just the latest and clearest example. Think about it: the Secretary of Defense, the guy who is in charge of the US military under the president, whose current title holder’s only credential is hosting a segment on a propaganda news network, that guy didn’t know enough about a group chat service to not include someone who didn’t have clearance to be there, when talking about military attack plans, and the person it was shared with was the editor of a major news outlet.
This whole governing body is stupid. These people don’t know what they’re doing, never mind how to do it or why they have to do it. And that stupidity is more dangerous for our country as a whole, and really the whole world to a degree, than any amount of greed or hate they have could ever be. These morons are going to get people killed, potentially a great many people, and not because of their disregard for safety in their pursuit of greed, not because of their active malice against certain groups because of their hate, although they’ll certainly do plenty of those things. This Republican-run government is going to get people killed because they’re too stupid to be in charge of a fucking light switch!
That scene in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, where Groot can’t figure out not to push the button that will immediately detonate a nuclear bomb, and then at the end, with intense concentration, he realizes which button is the right one? Plunk any current Republican in office down into that scene (except maybe Mitch McConnell, that evil fuck is the only smart Republican left but his brain is melting in his elderly state), and they will have that same moment of realization and still hit the wrong button. Because they’re that stupid.
Elise just got fucked.
“Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.” - George Dubya Bush
I love how they always do a combination of pulling random numbers and blaming the other side to try to spin a narrative. 15 months? Starting when? For a whole 15 months Biden did nothing? Does that mean that they stopped the moment Biden stopped being president, and then just tried again all of a sudden? Or does that mean Trump allowed it to keep happening for another 2 months and only decided to do something in order to take attention away from how badly he’s already failing, only for the idiots working for him to make it so much worse?
Besides, for 11 months, Trump allowed a lethal pandemic to ravage our country and suggested every ludicrous treatment precaution besides the ones that actually worked, and Biden distributed the vaccines to stop it the moment they became available. Thanks Biden.
God I hate these people.
Because there’s no reasoning with it, no coherent strategy to counter it. Trump bulldozes through institutions and safeguards with a big, dumb grin, and his fans wave flags as if that alone justifies the damage.
“The MAGA movement, you see, is an internet thing. It’s another vertical online community — a bunch of deracinated, atomized individuals, thinly connected across vast distances by the notional bonds of ideology and identity. There is nothing in it of family, community, or rootedness to a place. It’s a digital consumption good. It’s a subreddit. It is a fandom.”
In Youtube News, I’m very happy that Screen Culture’s real-looking but Fake AF “trailers” might get pushed less on the app
The Google-owned video-hosting giant has turned off ad revenue on Screen Culture and KH Studio trailers after a Deadline investigation chronicled the scale and sophistication of their output.
Deadline analyzed how Screen Culture is creating trailers that closely immitate official marketing material for franchises like The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Superman, but splices in AI imagery to tease irresistible details about a movie that appeal to their giant fandoms.
KH Studio, meanwhile, imagines outlandish versions of major films and series, including a James Bond movie starring Henry Cavill and Margot Robbie, and a Squid Game season with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Gosh I hate their manipulative thumbnail/title BS so much.
With all these extremely sudden, half-brain-dead, incredibly massive changes to the US government, I really wonder (not that you guys are all political experts, just asking for my own hopeful mental health), is there any way these changes can be reversed or restored come the Next Administration, if the american people wake up to actually vote someone mentally competent in office?
(It’s crazy how much Trump is able to try and push forward these changes and shut-downs quickly by putting out these executive orders – either by having people under him control the situation, or scare those affected into complying early)
(I haven’t been tuned into political news that much in my life, but this all feels like an extreme shift from what’s usually been seen from the US govt. ESPECIALLY all these sweeping federal firings, and now an over-century-long institution being dismantled. The DoE was created in 1867!!)
It can be, but likely not from just a President and executive orders. We’re gonna need legislation to change these. It’s not just about who is president, it’s about having a unified congressional majority. So we need to have a majority in the house, and about 60+ in the senate, so that we can get veto-proof legislation and possible amendment-passing powers. Because we also need to be able to impeach some judges and expand the Supreme Court in order to effect any significant changes. And as it is, it’s gonna be decades before the damage done in just the last two months is corrected.
Right…
Well I mean it’s good to know that there are still safeguards in place to have pushback against cruel, frivolous or downright insulting changes to the government’s operations and the support systems in America. Its just that right now, the people in charge of this are either too maliciously compliant or meekly compliant.
I’m so sorry, Heis, and others.
This all really has me put off from visiting the US in the next 4 years, and I’ve really wanted to go, given I’m in my mid-20s, I wanna do some independent travel, meet some friends I know online, go to some event, IDK…
But, with reports of students and tourists being taken off the streets by ICE - in a very grey legal move, but the cruel inhumane behaviour of it all, it’s frightening and disappointing.
Can’t you just exclude their channels and videos from your feed?
I am doing that by applying three dots on each video and selecting “not interested” or “don’t recommend videos from this channel” options.
I believe you can reach same options on the app by long tap on the video
