I thought the NJ one was recovered but there are 3 still missing. One in Georgia (the US state, not the country), one in the ocean near the Philippines, and one somewhere around Greenland. Plus a bunch that the Russian lost… most of which were likely stolen as the USSR broke up and Russia absorbed both its debt and its nuclear arsenal which meant moving a ton of them back into Russia.

There was no recovery the third device (and a core) was never jettisoned while two devices were jettisoned and never recovered. Unless you dare be the lucky man to find them. The one in Georgia was indeed not recovered either. That podcast actually covered both the American incidents from memory and maybe the Greenland one as well.
In fact Robert (jokingly) implores that if you are ever in Jersey or Georgia then you should go find them and be the first nuclear equipped private citizen.

While nukes have rendered battleships obsolete on the transcontinential theater of war, there’s still command and control use for them in regional skirmishes (which, in this nuclear equipped age means shows of force in the South China Sea). Even most cruisers now serve more of an electronic warfare use than actual battle, so most of the armaments will be for self-defense.
But railguns and lasers, a V22 flight deck, vertical cells and a fossil fuel propulsion system with no electric hybridization looks like a concept image drawn up in the 1970s, when lasers were all the rage and the enemy didn’t have UAVs the size of a backpack.
It’s not common knowledge (but also not classified) that modern nukes are fitted with a neutron poison that renders them inert if not detonated after launch within a certain timeframe, to avoid the issue of an empty quiver in the Bermuda (again). But I think that only started during SALT II and plutonium 239 still has a half life of 24,000 years and uranium-238 about 70 million 
plus I doubt they were depth tested back then, so that core’s probably caved in from the pressure and squished all that TNT!

Speaking of, I’m glad to see that the close of the year ended on a failure from Trump, showing his weakness as he obeyed court orders to remove the National Guard from the cities he wanted to control with them (trying to make it sound like it was by his own choice, of course, as if we couldn’t all see that he just lost because he’s weak), and that the new one began with Mamdani being sworn in as NY mayor. A non-white socialist in charge of America’s most important city, oh please bring on those winds of change.

Venezuela is in an absolutely fluid state. It will be impossible to predict what happens next. Foreign intervention? Anarchy? Vice Presidents stabilizes the regime? Military coup? Civil war? Democratic opposition finally seizing power? Honestly anything could happen in Venezuela at this point.

Venezuela has unprecedented hyperinflation, mass emigration and a brain drain. It also has proven oil reserves that it lacks the infrastructure to drill, but that a pro-US leader might be able to secure through an IMF loan and corporate backing (smart money’s on Haliburton).

I don’t want to be a conspiracy theorist, but I can’t help but wonder now if the claim from five years ago that Venezuela (even its dead president, as was the claim) interfered in the 2020 election to “rig” it against Trump wasn’t somehow the planting of the seed in the public consciousness that, if Trump should get back into power, or another Republican who followed his path, would use that as an excuse to focus on Venezuela and eventually lead to this. They’ve wanted the oil and the rare earth minerals for some time, and that whole thing may have been some early attempt to put the focus of right-wing bullshit there.
Obviously they can’t invade because of that, so they had to adjust it to be about stopping drug trafficking… even though that’s not one of the countries where drugs get trafficked from, but hey, it’s South America, it’s just full of dirty backward broke people who don’t speak English and they’re all doing drugs anyway, so who’s gonna care if the drug claim is a lie, right?

The SOP for invading South American countries is drugs (and used to be Communism). For the Middle East it’s terrorism, for Europe it’s post-Soviet intervention, for east Asia it’s Chinese intervention and for Africa it’s radicalization.
The smoking gun of drugs works well here because authoritarian regimes in warm climates are usually growing something questionable anyway; Bolivia and its coca, Afghanistan and its poppy fields, Colombia and cocaine, Syria and captagon etc.
So the pretext is true, but obviously it’s a cover for securing access to natural resources. If drugs were really a military issue of national security, they’d have invaded Mexico or Bolivia by now.

He is a psychopath in all senses though I wish his insanity frees Iran before his course is over. Assassinating Soleimani 6 years 1 day ago was a work of art. The amount of time democrats bought for the regime is beyond evil.
Unfortunately the general trend for US intervention is for things to get worse, not better, since they tend to just kill off or abduct the head of the evil then offer the rest of the body deniable, competing contracts. A shocking amount of the people captured after the Iraq War and tortured in Guantanamo Bay have been confirmed to have literally no connections to anything, they were just convenient people to point a finger at when the CIA showed up offering money for leads.
And that was when they wanted it to be stable so they could exploit the oil.
