H3 - Easter Eggs (EEs)

Its a great game, about a lovely family all dying horrible accidental deaths.

its the only game that makes the death of a baby seem beautiful

Wow there were many deaths in the family.

I hope you like it! It’s a very different game from Hitman, so I realize it may not fall in everybody’s taste here.

Thanks. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it  It looks interesting judging from the Steam page.

“The unicorn horns, Mason. What do they mean?”

Just saying… if this is indeed some standalone safehouse level, I feel like this thread is going to have a lot of fun discovering easter eggs next year – both reference-related and secret-related.

Leaving these here for Dartmoor EE hunters:

So the other day I was in Dartmoor. I picked up all 3 unicorn horns while I was messing around. I don’t remember if I did anything specific but later one of the horns reappeared on the statue head.

Also not sure if this was mentioned before, but the fountain head point towards one of the unicorn statues. Perhaps the direction in which the unicorns are facing might point to another clue.

On which statue did it reappear? One that was without a horn before, or one which you broke off yourself? And are you sure you didnt just see things?

I was trying forever to figure something out in dartmoor regarding the horns.
This could be a lead.

Edit: Oh and theres four horns in dartmoor.

It was the left statue at the front of the manor.

100% sure. Just don’t know why or how it reappeared.

As you can see I have all 4 horns, but the 2 horns on the unicorn heads are back.

Okay, you are officially my hero. I was about to give up on it. But i will resume investigating.
Big thanks!

Do you have any clue what you could have done to have them reappear?

i killed everyone.

i shot down all the chandeliers

and i was shooting all the jugs and breakable object i could find.

so far nothing.

I’m also very curious about the chain on the head of the fountain statue. it’s not symmetrical and seems to be pulling the head, which is why it’s facing right instead of the middle.

i’ll keep searching.

Spend awhile digging deep.

I walked the whole perimeter of the house after times so maybe you have to circle the house.

The unicorn fountain head is looking towards the secret chamber in Zachary’s room.

I tried throwing the 4 horns in the fountains, the birdbaths, the pools, the upstairs globe, most 0f the large paintings, and several chains and benches, and even the grave nothing.

I walked around the whole level with the walking stick to find a secret trigger but nothing.

I found several tiny gold elephants, hourglass and ships that can be shot but no sounds or effects when they break.

Certain lamps burst into flames when you shoot them.

There are 2 fish on the front fountain ornament and 2 fish in the kitchen.

You can throw the fish inside the birdcage for some reason.

I even tried killing every single person in the level with the unicorn horn.

I’ll try again tomorrow.

I did similar things to you with the same results.

For the reappearing horns, i think its just what happens to them when you reload dartmoor from a save file. At least that way i could easily replicate it. Little bummer here, as i thought this might be something.

Nonetheless i still think theres more to them, than whats been found. So i keep looking any interesting findings will be shared here.

The secret room next to Alexa’s crying room - there’s a horn in there, so that’d be a 5th.

I think this might be because you are saving in loading. It resets some items in the game.

That’s possible. The video i sent was from a save.

I got 2 from the statues. One near the bush out front and one in the secret room.

You ever notice that sometimes 47 breaks the horn but doesn’t take it?

Other times he snatches it on the first take.

I’m also kinda stuck on the 2 fish thing.

Its been 9 months since you posted this. And i dont think i saw a reply regarding this. But do you care to share what the reference is. Or want to hint at it again? Cheers

Could it be this game? The hound of the Baskervilles has a lot of similar elements and there’s even an escape convict from dartmoor mentioned SchnitzelRegular

I think its confirmed to be »What Remains of Edith Finch«
