Hitman 2: Silent Assassin Role-Play Walkthrough | The Definitive Play-Through

For the last however many months I’ve been working on the part right after 47 presses the alarm button to trigger the chaotic scramble of ninjas running around in formation to get Hayamoto outta there. I’m thinking of making a little behind the scenes video showing all the little details, like freeze framing at different points and showing why I wanted this or that shot framed in this particular way, and all the complexity that goes into the process of making the form of this part of the mission.

it has been very difficult trying to pull off the vision I have in my head, and pulling the whole thing off with the maximum amount of style possible, getting the timing just right, keeping all the camera angles perfect and proportional, and the movements all fluid, etc. has been tough because I don’t have a lot of opportunities for hard cuts to transition cleanly. I can post a video of the idea of what I’m trying to do a little later.

The reason for this post is just to say that I think I may have finally found something that will make this process a lot more efficient, it’s called a Cronus Zen. I ordered one last night and it looks like it’s basically a device that comes between the console and the controller, and connects to a computer, where you can then gain all sorts of advanced access to the controller input data, things like X and Y axis values, and then you can modify things with scripts, so I could hypothetically lock the right analog stick to only allow movement on one axis, or I could write a script to make a certain camera movement happen strictly down to the exact number values.

this could potentially be a game changer and could even let me alter the controls to make walking the default movement in Contracts and Blood money, with a button for running like how SA has, and allow me to make the camera movement smoother in those games like it is in SA. I can also easily achieve and pull off all kinds of cool movements and scenes with ease with this thing if it actually works the way I’m imagining

Here a very rough snippet literally just snipped out of the Final Cut editor so ignore the audio and stuff but this shows what I’ve been trying to do. It’s all good and beautiful up until the spin move while closing the door crouching behind the barrier to avoid the insta-detect sword ninja from the upper floors running by.

that’s the part that’s been giving me trouble trying to pull it off, but as you can see, if I could get it it would be smooth as balls and awesome
