Location: All / Chongqing

Description: Three Deluxe suits (The Devil’s Own, Formal Hunting Attire, & The Black Dragon) and most disguises from Chongqing will not use their appropriate NPC reactions when worn. Dialogue for these specific outfits exists and was recorded, but is unused due to the OutfitActorCategory being incorrectly assigned.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Wear any of the outfits mentioned above
  • Have an NPC greet you or deny you entry to an area. This is most easily done by approaching a sentry area.
  • Rather than using the specific dialogue from, for example, DeluxeDevil, they will use the generic Fallback dialogue (or possibly StartClassy in some cases)

Description: NPCs pushed off ledges will make an odd gurgling noise when pushed or kicked off ledges rather than screaming. This is because they’re using dth_gnsht (gunshot) voice lines instead of dth_fll (fall)

This does not affect unconscious NPCs dumped over ledges, who instead use dth_hdsht (headshot) voice lines

  • Push an NPC off a ledge
  • Listen for the sound they make

Location: Freelancer - Safehouse (Garage)

Description: The quad model is missing. I had it set before this session, now there’s only it’s shadow. The interaction and collision remains. Changing to something else and then back doesn’t fix a problem.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Go to Safehouse’s Garage in Freelancer mode
  • Set vehicle near back exit to quad or have quad set before

Location: Freelancer - Safehouse (Garage)

Description: The hearse drops every time when switching to it in decoration selection. The car body visually falls like it had the working suspension. The tires remain in the same place and the rest of the car clips into the tires more each time until it reaches the floor. It doesn’t happen to other vehicles I have unlocked and can see. After going back to menu and entering the gamemode again it goes back to the normal state, reproducing makes it bugged again.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Go to Safehouse’s Garage in Freelancer mode

  • Open the decoration selection of the vehicle spot near a plant desk.

  • Keep switching from and to the hearse, it will look worse each time.

I found more bugs but I can only post 3 replies for now, so including few in one reply.

Bug report 1

Platform: PC Epic 3.240.1 (ID9241237)

Location: Freelancer - Safehouse

Description: Pressing RESET & EXIT while fast switching decorations does not reset to the last saved decoration. Instead, the last viewed decoration remains. Hovewer, it does not save. Leaving to the menu and entering the gamemode again returns decorations to the last saved state.

My suggestion is to lock the “reset” and “save” actions for this very short time after switching.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Go to any switchable decoration in the Safehouse in Freelancer mode.

  • Open the decoration selection.

  • Keep switching fast and suddenly press RESET & EXIT (it should be pressed just after switching to the other decoration or no decoration).

Bug Report 2

Platform: PC Epic 3.240.1 (ID9241237)

Location: Freelancer - Safehouse (Practice Space)

Description: The drums can be bugged. The “PLAY THE DRUMS” button appears too early. When I press it during the “going to sit” animation, the button dissapears, and when 47 fully sits he just waits with his hands on the drums, and my only option is to exit interaction. Then when I leave every next interaction with drums will look the same: the button does nothing and 47 after he sat he automatically starts playing on drums. Switching the decoration of the room, saving that and going back doesn’t fix a bug until I rejoin the gamemode.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Go to the Practice Space in the basement of the Safehouse in Freelancer mode.
  • Switch room decoration to the one with drums (Mastery Reward Level 18)
  • Go to the drums and interact with “PLAY DRUMS”
  • Press “PLAY THE DRUMS” just after, before 47 starts waiting with the hands on drums.
  • Wait until 47 starts waiting with the hands on drums.
  • Exit drums.
  • Press “PLAY DRUMS” again. Now, pressing “PLAY THE DRUMS” or not, 47 will automatically start playing on drums instead of waiting with the hands on drums. It will happen every time until leaving the gamemode.

Location: Freelancer - Safehouse (Outside - boat place)

Description: I have started playing Freelancer since it came out. I have Mastery Level 34 in Freelancer. Noticed a change in Mastery Rewards in this time:

Decorations I have missing:

  • Outside (Red modern boat) - Level 19

Decorations that I have (unlocked before the required level has changed):

  • Outside (Black modern boat) - Level 37

Steps to reproduce:

  • Go to mentioned switchable decoration in the Safehouse in Freelancer mode.

  • Open the decoration selection.

  • One decoration is missing, other is there.

One more I forgot about that’s been bugging me (hehe) for ages

Location: All (Freelancer)

Description: Freelancer Assassins choose from a much smaller pool of outfits than they’re meant to

Assassins are meant to choose from all variations of civilian available on a level, but in practice only choose from the first four. From what I’ve seen looking inside, it’s meant to check which charset is being set to determine which level is being loaded, and then set the maximum of the random number generator to the appropriate value. Unfortunately, this number seems to be being set after the assassins are assigned their variations resulting in them always using the default maximum of 4.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Have the game generate some assassins in a Freelancer showdown. This is easiest on the final Showdown of the campaign, and with an alerted territory.
  • Take note of the numbers of the variations being assigned to them.
  • Alternatively, change the default value in the random generator to something extremely high, like 100. Almost all assassins will now look the same, as the variation assigned to them does not exist and the game rounds down to the highest that does.

Strange bug after Bruce Lee mission was added - I’ve set Inventory key bind to mouse 4 button - and it does not toggle anymore (You have to hold it for inventory to be visible) - as soon as you release the button, inventory menu disappears. Keyboard key “I” works fine.

Description: The tresspassing zones are completely busted.

Firstly, you are not allowed to the left wing of hotel, despite the fact that band is long gone. It makes sense that you are not allowed in the highest floor, because there is cleaning going on, but other floors are completely empty, except for security guards.

Second, if you go left wing with any staff disguise, you will be tresspassing, even if you are wearing hotel security disguise, which should be allowed nearly everywhere. This is mostly notable on first floor where security office is, where you are tresspassing in area around the office.

Third, disguise of captured man does work as hostile as it should, but instead just as tresspassing. This means that you can be escorted by the bodyguards, that are supposed to keep an eye on you, downstairs and then freely walk around with bloodied bag on head.

  2. Do whatever you can to make sure Lee wins the tournament and faces the target

  3. After the target is killed by Lee, the objective isn’t ticked off thus stopping the mission from progressing.

Description:

Wrong fighter wins fight

  • Xiao beats Lee in fight number 13 (demi-finale - left), he was poisoned but was cured
    • Fight 13.
    • Lee at the top bracket, enters the mat from the south/left for the audience.
    • Xiao at the bottom bracket, enters the mat from the north/right.
  • Zen beats Xiao in fight number 11 (quarter-finale - upper right)
    • Fight 11.
    • Xiao at the top bracket, enters mat from the south/left for the audience.
    • Zen at the bottom bracket, enters the mat from the north/right.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Tournament order was changed using the guard disguise near the bathroom, behind the scoreboard. (EDIT: exact disguise or even disguise type used irrelevant)
  • I do not remember the exact order of the swap of the Xiao beating Lee instance. (EDIT: see second post)
  • Instances of Zen beating Xiao saw the same order of tournament swaps:
    • As fast as possible (fight number 3, first Lee fight, in progress), R. Chau swapped with K. Hugues, sent to face Zen in fight number 6.
    • After fight number 5, H. Xio swapped with H. Peng, sent to face Zen in fight number 11.
    • Zen wins against Xiao in fight 11.
    • Lee win against Zen in the Finale (fight number 15), as normal. Mission completed in all cases.

Notes:

  • Escalation stage, penthouse infiltration methods, starting loadouts, antidote stealing or no, talk with Lee or no, direct observation of the fights or no, presence in the Penthouse or no were all diverse, and seemingly no factors.
  • Silent Assassin maintained, no disturbance, only the one guard/referee knocked out.

For the sake of it, I even reproduced it with 47 lounging in a sun chair in front of the hotel as soon as just the swaps, and nothing more, were made by the 10 minutes mark. Xiao looses to Zen at 22 minutes.

Frequency: Unknown. Probable always.
Zen winning against Xiao was reproduced two more time as this report was typed.

After some further running around. And reversing from the bracket visible in the 1 minute capture.
I have found a way to reproduce the Xio winning against a cured Lee.
At least for me.

Xiao Hu wins against a cured Bruce Lee in fight number 13, failing the mission

  • Fight 13 (demi-finale left).
  • Lee at the top bracket, enters the mat from the south/left for the audience.
  • Xiao at the bottom bracket, enters the mat from the north/right.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • Using any authorized disguise do the following tournament changes:
    • During fight number 3, Lee first fight, swap K.Edward and Zen (Zen to fight number 4 against Chau).
    • During fight number 4, swap Lee and Xiao, (Lee to fight number 9 against K. Garcia, Xiao to face Zen in fight number 10 after his victory in 4 sets in)
    • Cure Lee with the antidote from the safe after he is poisoned by Xiao Hu, in the lead up to his fight against her.
    • Xiao wins against a cured Lee in fight number 13.

All remarks of “apparently no factor” elements in the post above are maintained.
Which Guard, Bodyguard, or even Tournament Judge disguise is used to do the swaps also looks irrelevant.

Frequency: Unknown. Probable always.

Interesting finds.

After reproducing the same steps another time, with the same result, for a third time.
In a fourth run, with everything else identical:

  • 47 swaps and officiates all fights courtesy of a Durian to the Tournament Judge before fight number 3
  • cured Lee loses against Xiao in fight number 13

In a fifth run, during the intermission before the demi-finale, and everything else identical:

  • swapped Lee with H. Peng
  • swapped Xiao with L. Yu
  • Xiao and Lee are still facing each other, entering from the same side of the mat after the same build up, but in fight 14
  • Lee wins against Xiao, as normal

In a sixth run, during the intermission before the demi-finale, and everything else identical:

  • swapped Lee with Xiao (Lee now at the bottom bracket, Xiao at the top one)
  • Xiao and Lee are still facing each other, still in fight number 13, with the same build up but each entering from the other side of the mat
  • Lee wins against Xiao, as normal

In a seventh run, building from the ground up the swaps for a different build up:

  • swapped Chau with R. Cutmore during fight number 3
  • swapped Lee and Xiao during the quarter finale intermission (Lee facing Garcia in fight number 9, Xiao facing Edward in fight number 10)
  • resulting with a demi-finale with all sub-targets still standing:
    • fight number 13 Lee (up-left corner of the bracket) facing Xiao (low-left corner)
    • fight number 14 Zen facing Chau
  • cured Lee loses to Xiao in fight 13

Not to be too forward.
But knowing the game relation to randomness (hem, the roulettes from the Banker ET)

I would guess the direction of the blow by blow of each fight is created from the substrate of a programmed set assigned to the fight numbers and the bracket/mat position.
And then refined with the participant “weighting” / assigned prowess, to dynamically create the movements sequence.
In some particular fight and bracket positions, the combination result might have some failures compared to its intended design.

Or it’s not a refined calculation and just the meeting of the participant health pool vs opponent strength with the set blow-by-blow events of the fights. Some of them might just have an unlucky bad streak to the intended preferred participant.

And then the game follow them to their uncaring consequences to the fight result, since it looks to be a fair look at the systemic actual events on the mat.

When Lee fights the target, if you reverse Lee’s starting position from the previous final match, the fight animations become distorted.

Additionally, when participating as Rory Cutmore, if you arrive at the match venue just before the time limit for a forfeit loss, there seems to be a bug where the match proceeds even though 47 barely moves.

Steps to reproduce:

Lee and target’s movements break.

  1. Advance Lee to the final match and reverse his starting position (right side of the audience seats).
  2. Have Lee win the final match.
  3. When Lee and the target fight, their movements break.

47 stops moving.

  1. Take the stage as Rory Cutmore at the absolute last minute before forfeiting.
  2. Start the match.
  3. 47 doesn’t move, and the opponent moves alone.

Description for bug 1:-

NPCs should never see a remote micro audio distraction device since it’s micro-sized just like the other micro items such as micro remote taser & micro remote explosive. In the video below, this NPC got distracted by the noise it made and then picked it up. Before version 3.240.1, it was invisible so I can confirm that it is a bug now that NPCs are able to see it after it is activated and pick it up.

Steps to reproduce-:

  1. Put the remote micro audio distraction anyway.
  2. Activate it.
  3. The nearest NPC attracted to its audio will pick it up as if it’s a coin.

Description for bug 2:-

Newspaper can no longer work as a thrown melee pacification item. Before version 3.240.1, we could lock a newspaper on an NPC head, throw it and the poor lad/lass will be pacified instantly on the spot. But for the current version, it has been nerfed that it can only knock the NPC down instead of straight up KOing them similar to how apple, muffin & other brittle items work. This bug has been on PS5 for multiple patches so I didn’t expect for it to come to PC port as well.

Steps to reproduce-:

  1. Find a poor NPC. A lone NPC is the best.
  2. Lock the newspaper on his/her head.
  3. Throw and enjoy the show.

Description: When bound to mouse button 4, inventory interface requires holding the button to keep open.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Bind inventory to mouse button 4.
  2. Start any mission.
  3. Press mouse button 4, which opens the inventory interface.
  4. Release mouse button 4, which closes the inventory interface at once.

Additional information:

  1. Changing the binding to any other button on the mouse (including mouse button 5) keeps inventory interface open on button release.
  2. I swapped the functions of mouse button 4 and 5 in mouse driver while inventory still bound to mouse button 4 in game, and this problem continues to occur when I press and release mouse button 5.
