I remember reading somewhere that IOI decided to remove 47’s barcode numbers as they wanted him to become a timeless character, so I personally don’t except his story to ever fully conclude.

The barcode numbers were never really present in the games besides C47 and Absolution

The tech limitations did mean they just looked like lines on the back of his head haha
I have him retiring back to the Church on Sicily. Maybe keeping some of his money this time so he can enjoy a few nice things. He won’t do this till he’s past 60 though.
Edit: that’s my head cannon. I don’t believe IO will ever end his story. He’s timeless now like James Bond or Batman. Endless adventures bc that means endless cash 
, but I WOULD LOVE A CONTRACTS 2 style game where there is no real story and it’s just flash back missions and the narrative can be an older, retired 47 maybe chatting with Diana or Smith over a drink. Perfect excuse to just have a hodge podge of great missions with no connected story.
