IOI Partners - Mindseye (launching June 10 2025)

No Man’s Sky also actually had a vision people believed in. It was possible to work towards that. I don’t think Mindseye has that. Sure it can improve, maybe even by much. But where would it go to?

IO working for their publisher paycheque, no one loves a Free Starter Pack like them

I’ll grab the demo, but I’m already 105% sure I will not be buying the game even on discount

Umm excuse me: Being a worse version of CyberPunk 2077

Were people hoping for a Cyberpunk-like game? I mean I can see it could have aimed for that but it was not rallying enough to build up any hype or faith I think.

Free Starter Pack? I wonder who’s idea that was…

(Seriously, if this game is as boring and by-the-numbers (and bug-ridden) as everyone says it is, I feel like a free demo is gonna be those cases where it puts people OFF of the game…)

…Oh wait, the demo comes with free Arcadia Missions? Well, now I’m sold! (They’re… not great…) :grimacing:

Played the Starter Pack/Demo.

Cons

  • Probably the worst thing of all was it took six minutes just for the menu to load.
  • Then longer for the actual mission.
  • Unskippable cutscenes
  • Poor performance even during those cutscenes (Honestly if the cutscene doesn’t lead directly into gameplay then just render it out on your best PC, don’t make us suffer through an unskippable cutscene running 9 FPS as textures and level of detail loads in front of our eyes while it’s playing out). Also poor performance during gameplay
  • Aiming with a mouse for some reason feels shit (I can see why there was a popup saying best played with a controller)
  • Story seems pretty generic and unengaging, though we did jump in the middle of it
  • The jumping/climbing system is ridiculous, you can’t scale a low wall, or the caravan it tells you to climb up, you can only climb up things that are about knee-high. So many things you should be able to climb you just do a roll into the object when you press the jump button
  • Game prescribes when you can and cannot enter cars, even if the mission takes place in the middle of a road, I don’t like that (Mafia DE did the same thing)

“Pros”

  • Excluding the aiming, the combat is… okay
  • The Arcadia contracts seem an interesting concept, if the player can make the type of contracts that the devs have made then that’s actually really impressive. The ones supplied weren’t overly interesting, but had some scripting, dialogue and different segments that elevate them far above any Hitman contracts
  • When the graphics were actually fully loaded (usually near the end of cutscene) things looked pretty good considering I had it on lowest setting, particularly the protagonist’s face

Verdict: Absolutely would not buy in current state for even 50c. Not unless performance issues magically were fixed, or I guess I happened to buy a supercomputer
