oh thank god, and tbh Idk any famous MMA or Boxer fighter that has never once been called out for a scandal or controversy and is nice could be used as a Celebrity ET. Ngl I do not know ANY MMA/UFC fighter who has not had one controversy and has been convicted of any crime whatsoever.

I guess it’s safe to say that we won’t be getting the new Elusive Target til Friday 28th now. Patch on the 27th.
I’m just very surprised they are leaving it this late to even drop a trailer.

We had a hint that it is McGregor:
But his comeback fight (scheduled for June 29) got canceled/postponed. The ET might have gotten pushed back as well, to not lose the promotion effect!?

If it’s him,
IOI might have made the deal directly with the UFC. It’s possible that the go ahead is not theirs, and now postponed permanently.
In which case I hope for them they have clauses for this kind of situation.
The go ahead could also have been theirs, and withhold in the now shafted hope that it could be released during an official promotion for better impact. Maybe even by being led along by the UFC. Now resigned to be jury-rigged without good synergy.
It would also explain the recent three weeks: the event promotion activities about McGregor have been in suspense for that long. The fight was officially cancelled a few days ago.
Hence the uncertainty of the communication.
If it’s possible, and necessary, they might be able to retool it. Change the model. Have a voice actor. Fill in the trademarks.
Presumably, the ET wasn’t McGregor directly, but an fictional equivalent (like the previous celebrET was). So it might be possible without too much change.
Materially at least. Rights wise, work time/production resources wise, and decision wise are other questions.
All lesson learned to be had business wise, I also still have my personal feelings about them potentially accepting to promote him.
I can’t help but to reserve a right to be gleeful if it is him and it did cause them issues.

This is giving me freelancer vibes, hopefully they don’t delay the mission until next year this time. This lack of communication is just annoying, fist shadow dropping ETs, now complete radio silence on this. Both june and spring are almost over and we don’t even know who the hell the target is.
I don’t know about you, but to me teasing somethind new and then just going silent doesn’t really count as hype, quite the contrary, I believe is killing the hype.

I think it’s kind of cool not to announce who the target is until they do the announcement trailer, very much like the Drop

If they wanted to hold out on revealing who the target is, they could still give us the roadmap for the next several months but redact anything tied to the CelebrETs identity. Then full reveal the roadmap after its announced.
At the very least, knowing the period it is going to be live would be enough to start building up a bit of hype. Because lets be honest - that random cosplay video with that Leon guy did absolutely nothing, despite combatglue saying on here that its intent was to begin the hype building.

The thing is that we got a trailer for The Drop several months before the actual mission was released. Here, the timeframe they originally gave is about to end and there’s been zero news on the ET. If they drop the trailer just a day or so before release the hype and buildup wouldn’t be the same.

Poor IOI… Having to tease this, then something outside of their control falls through then that puts them in a really awkward position. But, that’s life. 
If anything they could at least say that, at this point, it will be put on hold for an indefinite amount of time. I don’t see them canceling it outright. That’d be unfortunate if it ever comes to that. I’d think they’d rework what they have if something drastic has to change.

That’s why you should never time something that takes this much to put into, to coincide with a real-world event scheduled for a certain time and place, because you never know what’s gonna fuck that up.

This would be the easiest target to eliminate ever. All you’d have to do is locate the picture of Mark Hamill located somewhere on the map. Show the target the picture and he’ll just smile, and then just stand there and let you kill him.
