New Hitman Mission Championship - Semi-Final 1

While we are no longer abiding by the spirit of this game can I have double points and Gilded Cage added back to the line up?

Can I be a little bit taller?
Can I be a baller?
Can I have a girl who looks good? (I will call her)
Can I have a rabbit in a hat with a bat and a '64 Impala?

Can we reintroduce Colorado? I want to get rid of it again…

Did you really believe the spirit of this game was to objectively determine the best missions of the franchise through a multitude of different opinions based solely on the levels’ quality? That’s honestly cute. I thought the entire purpose was to stir drama just for the fun of it. :stuck_out_tongue:

The entire purpose of the game is to invent meme opinions and make people vote for them.

I think we should make Holiday Hoarders the overall winner. Lond knows it will be the Silly Season again by the time this shit circus is over.

Is this not exactly the place for that? Especially if you’re trying to persuade others to vote against it.

(I will not downvote Paris as it is the only map with a Vampire Magician disguise, therefore objectively the best one)

Believe it or not folks but this is the closest anyone has come to a purely objective rationale for voting this round.

The game developer doesn’t want us to deviate from the spirit of the game, and I’m listening to him, so message me to see my reasons.

I am sorry in advance if I come across as a bit rude, but did a vampire magician suck your b̶l̶o̶o̶d̶ ability to understand sarcasm by any chance?

Very sarry.I’m tired reality :slightly_frowning_face:

Honestly, after Absolution I was probably going to target Paris anyway. It’s not changed my voting much, only shifted my focus earlier.

Oh, and nice Princess Superstar reference.

Alright, I gotta bite. Why Paris though?

For me, I just never clicked with it. I played H3 in WoA before the other two and when I played Paris I felt majorly disappointed. Thankfully Sapienza was a vast improvement and rekindled my faith in H1.

I don’t dislike Paris as much as I used to, but I can’t say I like it either.

Hey, hey now. This proves you at least have some discerning taste.

Honestly we really should be downvoting Paris because it is the stiffest competition Sapienza has overall. In fact I am pretty sure the last finals we had for this comp had a pretty brutal fight between both levels fans.

I think that’s what happened during the first edition of this game, when only H1 was out. I didn’t participate back then (I wasn’t even a member of the forum at that point), but I did read the topics related to that game and the Paris and Sapienza fans tore each apart to the point neither of them won.

However, there wasn’t any fierce competition between these two levels last time. Sapienza was actually against Miami and Berlin for the top spot, as far as I remember, while Paris had been eliminated much sooner.

I was one of the people who quietly contributed to Paris’ elimination back then. The irony though is that Paris has become one of my favourite levels since then.

Yeah well Hell or high water I am getting Sapienza in the top spot this time.

I must say, I’m getting rather annoyed that we have someone who admits they’ve only ever played one Hitman game (WoA) and has consistently downvoted Paris a total of 7 times now… on the grounds that it is their least favourite WoA map…

That’s -14 points to Paris, coupled with the same person now openly campaigning for Paris to be eliminated by forming voting blocks - removing an additional -2 points already.

Paris would now be left on just [4] if it wasn’t for the +15 points it has received from other players (including almost all of my upvotes so far in this semi-final).

Paris is a map most of us rate highly and would happily see in the final. Yet, several of us are burning through our upvotes to defend a level which would typically be an uncontroversial finalist.

This is depriving us from being able to focus on supporting the levels we enjoy amid those which are more hotly contested. Sure, I could abandon Paris and concentrate on saving my favourite older levels… but that doesn’t feel right to me.

And I believe it’s not just those of us upvoting Paris who are being deprived here. The entire competition is worse off because energy is sapped from proper battles being fought between the other levels.

(Indeed, there’s a 2nd person here, who has only played WoA, and is downvoting with the crowd to eliminate the weakest levels and progress the game more quickly - despite having previously been warned this is not within the spirit of the game. This further exacerbates the sapping of energy).

Let’s not forget, also, that the person campaigning against Paris is pledging to upvote other levels in exchange for Paris downvotes. Not only do their downvotes come from a place of objective ignorance (having only played WoA), their upvotes also bear no relation to the quality of the levels they are supporting.

I consider this an act of vandalism, so far outside the spirit of the game that it’s actually starting to spoil the competition in my eyes.

I suppose the conclusion I’ve arrived at - essentially just stating the obvious - is that this game is clearly designed to be played by people who are broadly familiar with all of the games in the Hitman series. The whole concept falls apart, and becomes a waste of everyone’s time, when a loud minority choose to participate from a position of extreme ignorance.

That said, the Paris downvoting situation isn’t just about ignorance of other Hitman games. It also displays ignorance of how this competition is played. After several days of downvoting Paris and several days of witnessing Paris being upvoted back to [20+] points, a rational player would realise that they simply don’t have the votes to take down Paris and would recast their efforts elsewhere. Instead, we are faced with someone who does not comprehend the basic arithmetic of the competition.
