I am getting big lag spikes with my Ryzen 5 1500x, is there going to be a patch to improve optimisation for Ryzen CPU’s anytime soon?
Update on the “Exception code: 0xc0000005” crash to desktop a few seconds after loading saves on the Isle of Sgail, reported here Hitman 2 - constant crashing with 0x80000003 and Official HITMAN 2 Bug Report Thread (sorry this is all over the place, but it’s not really clear what the difference between a bug and a technical issue is):
I just managed to do it again when replaying the Isle of Sgail for mastery. I drowned Sophia in the toilet in the tower, then reloaded to reset her so I can get a different challenge, then the game crashed when loading the save. Now that save ALWAYS crashes shortly after loading. The last time I “corrupted” a save was also when I was saving and reloading a lot while doing challenges. Could this have something to do with challenge popups? But the crash doesn’t always happen immediately after loading, sometimes 5-10 seconds after. @anurag011 also has the same bug on the same map.
I am on Windows 10 64 bit with an NVidia GTX 1060
Hi, I’m having terrible lag/stuttering issue in the game.
I have been able to play Hitman 2016 flawlessly. But in Hitman 2 I can’t discover any area without the game constantly freezing for 1 or 2 seconds at every turn. Even when returning to previous visited spaces, I encounter the problem. The lag is also there in the cinematics indroductions of missions. It was there in the first mission, but still playable, but Miami is just impossible to walk more than 10 seconds without the screen and sound freezing.
I meet the minimum requirement (Windows 7, i5 3470 3.3ghz, 8gb RAM, GTX 1060 6gb).
I have tried all settings to low, offline mode, and different configurations. Nothing makes a significant difference.
At the moment I don’t know what to do anymore on my end to make the game playable.
Same issue here on Steam. It kept crashing a few seconds after loading a saved game on the Isle of Sgail. I have the latest Geforce driver (416.94) and even repaired the driver installation.
Rig: Intel Core i7 6700K, GeForce GTX 980Ti, 16gigs RAM
The game has severe performance issues for many users with 8gb of system RAM right now. Anecdotally, I was able to fix it by specifically turning textures to low. The other settings don’t affect it at all.
You mean like exactly 8gb of ram? Or meaning it needs more? I’ll try with only lowering the textures!
I discovered such a problem when I wanted to play multiplayer with my friend. Please help to find out what the problem is.
Meaning 8gb or less (i.e. it needs more to run higher quality textures). Whether this is by design or the result of a bug like a memory leak, I don’t know. Typically video game textures are stored in video memory, not system memory, but maybe this engine is just built differently.
I’m getting very consistent crashes. Usually happens after 5-10 minutes but I’ve had stretches where I can go an hour before crashing.
Usually the game just disappears with no error messages but I occasionally get crashes where the screen goes black, my computer fans go to full blast and I’m forced to reboot. I built my computer very recently and this is the only game that’s crashing for me.
I get something like this in the event viewer:

I’m on XBOX ONE S and It’s telling me GET ACCESS for Whittleton Creek and Isle of Sgàil. Those two are not accessible whatsoever. Everything else works fine. Any suggestions guys? I am NOT uninstalling anything. LOL
Same is happening to me, I have a 2080ti also. It’s either the drivers, IOI’s hotfix or the Windows RTX update. I was able to complete the game last week without issue now I can’t play at all. @Travis_IOI
So I reinstalled audio and video drivers, updated the bios, reinstalled the game, and didn’t use an already existing save game. I got it to work for 2 hours of play yesterday. Don’t know what part of those things ended up fixing the problem, but hopefully one of those things might help someone else.
Hi, I’m playing Hitman 2 on PC (Windows 10 3440x1440p, i5 6700k GTX 1080ti 16gb ddr4 ram) with the latest Nvidia drivers. My game ran extremely smoothly until I got to the Mumbai level. Then when tracking my 3rd and final target and exploring the sewers area, my game froze and crashed. I tried reloading and doing things differently but the crashing continued. I reloaded an earlier autosave and again, the crashing started happening. Eventually, I gave up and started a new playthrough. This time I was able to complete the mission and got the achievement but the game doesn’t register my score. I checked that my connection was ‘online’ all the way through this second playthrough and again reloaded numerous saves and finished the mission again and again but it refuses to register my score on the leaderboards. You can see that here: !
I’m worried the save slots are also corrupted and wondering of there is a way to delete the ones related to this mission. Any help would be much appreciated!
Constant crash to Santa Fortuna, really frustrating.

I think I figured out what component is responsible for the freezes.
It’s most likely my graphics card, Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti, because when I was benchmarking my game, I noticed the GPU usage, core clock, and memory clock dropped down to zero whenever the game or my computer was frozen while the CPU and RAM doesn’t show any spike drops.
Pardon my sloppiness of this image but here’s an image of the graph and the settings of my GPU:
The spike drops are when the game or computer freezes. If it’s on a straight line or zigzagging, the game runs fine. It doesn’t always record the spike drop when the computer freezes but most of the time, it does.
The freezes happens more whenever I’m in crowded areas like in the Miami race’s event but not as frequent when jogging at the parks where it had less people. The freezes still happens there but it didn’t happen as much for this test fortunately.
It freezed again for a few times when I’m back at the main event and it crashed when I was blending in for a couple minutes.
Overclocking the GPU doesn’t make it any better, it actually causes it to crash more when starting missions.
Even if I managed it to load in, the freezes still present.
I did a quick benchmark of HITMAN 2016 recently and I have no freezes for that game whatsoever and again I repeat:
I had no freezes when playing HITMAN 2 with AMD Radeon R7 370 on my second computer.
This is so stupid that my current superior GPU can’t play the game fine but my inferior GPU can.
I guess all I can do is wait for the next Nvidia driver to come out, a new update for HITMAN 2 that contains some optimisation or get the next better graphics card that is gonna me cost me $300 AUD which I can’t afford right now.
Hey, I have been having some major frame rate/ stuttering issues with this game. I played and loved hitman (1) and it ran incredibly well, I heard this one was roughly the same performance wise, (slightly more demanding). However this title is not running well for me at all, so much so that it really is unplayable. When tracking the frame rate it goes from 90 to around 3, this happens every few seconds and is seemingly independent of what is going on in the game, happens when in crowded areas or not. My system is a gtx 1070 and i5 4690k, 8GB of RAM, I am aware the cpu isn’t the most up to date but it performs incredibly well still, I easily achieve 60 fps in battlefield 5 for example. I am confused why this game can’t maintain stable fps. I tried locking the game to 30fps, no change, I lowered every setting from ultra to low, no change. I downloaded the most up to date drivers but nothing seems to work. I can’t enjoy this game at all right now which is a real shame.
I am having trouble accessing the Legacy Pack on PS4. I purchased the first season, including Paris, Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado and Hokkaido. I have all of them on my PS4 console. I also purchased the Hitman 2 standard edition. I went to the in-game store in Hitman 1 but I cannot find a link for the Legacy Pack without being charged $20. Is that because I did not purchase the Bonus Episode in the first season? The Bonus Episode seems as if it is no longer for sale. I already paid $70 for Hitman 1, $60 for Hitman 2, and I will probably purchase the $40 Expansion Pass soon. All I want is for my accomplishments and progress from Hitman 1 to transfer to Hitman 2 without paying for it since I already paid for both games. Is there a way for me to receive the basic Legacy Pack for free as advertised?
Never mind what I said, it’s not the GPU’s fault, it’s actually my CPU’s fault (Intel Pentium G3258).
I used a tool called Battle Encoder Shirasé or “BES” to limit my CPU to not go over 100% usage for this game, did a test on both Miami and Sapienza for a while and guess what, no more freezes!
It brought a bit of stuttering for sure though and the audio crackling still presents but it’s been reduced.
Again, this makes no sense as to why my current superior CPU causes my game/computer to freeze while my inferior one (Intel Core i3 4130) from my second PC has no trouble running the game. Not to mention the fact that my G3258 can run the previous game (both on DX11 and DX12) just fine too.
Oh well, at least I finally got the game more bearable to play on my main PC now. I hope DirextX 12 will improve my situation so I don’t have to use BES to fix the freezing in this game, if it’s coming that is.
Man, this situation reminds me of having to use BES for Yakuza 0 on my second PC to fix random freezes, now I need to use this tool on my main PC for HITMAN 2. How strange…
EDIT: Unfortunately, the latest update still hasn’t fixed my CPU problems.
I’m still hearing audio crackling and I still have to deal with using a program to limit the CPU usage because the game is still making my computer freeze.
I uninstalled the Nvidia 416.94 driver and rolled back to .81 and was able to play for a few hours last night, will try again today
I’m having some major issues with the game not functioning at all.
I downloaded the game without issue and played for a couple of days before I got an error in game about a read error and needing to verify the cache.
I follow through and verify but it precedes to redownload the entire 52gb game. I let it finish and it ends up failing again. I cannot express how infuriating this whole process has been.
