100% a deliberate Resident Evil nod, reference, or tie-in.

Hell yes. 3x scrambler.

Since Milla starred the RE films, she makes a good choice to keep the lethal virus campaing. Heh, maybe she is infected with the Nabazov virus but now she can live with it and control it, kinda like in the RE movies.

Very interesting. De Waal was kidnapped around the time of Santa Fortuna/Mumbai and then confirmed killed later on via dialogue in Mendoza, but the circumstances were suspect. I’m assuming this ET would take place at some point between Mumbai and Hitman 3, but after Patient Zero. Klaus Lieblied was said to have worked with De Waal.

IOI also apparently loves the last name Deveraux, of Simon Deveraux, CEO of Biosphere, and the Deveraux twins in Mendoza (though whether anybody is related here is up in the air).

Whoa! Milla is one of my favorite actresses, I loved her in the Resident Evil movies. And finally a woman celebrity target.

This mission is clearly going to be one that is either non-canon, or takes place entirely after the main campaign and during the Freelancer period like the Drop, Disruptor and Infiltrator ETs. The timeline doesn’t work at all otherwise. This either takes place before the Dartmoor Garden show, or afterward when the Carlisle family managed to somehow regain control of the estate. The Patient Zero campaign takes place between the Bangkok and Colorado missions in H1.

IOI is using the smaller maps, and it looks like they will continue to make full overhaul of them for the celebrETs.
I am here for it.

I appreciate that it’s linked to Patient Zero, Gregory Carlisle, and Ether Corporation.

Also yay for Milla Jovovich.

And yet, still no ETs of any sort for Mumbai, New York, Haven or Ambrose Island, and no overhaul of the two maps that most people agree would most benefit from having them, and who have only had a single ET each: Whittleton Creek and Hawk’s Bay. To say nothing of having only one ET in Santa Fortuna, Miami and Dubai.

IOI, you have other maps. Use them, goddammit!

Honestly I love that this elusive target has major lore connections to the rest of the game, all the connections people have already made with Ether and the obvious connection to Sapienza is so cool, and it’s a breath of fresh air after the weird setting of the Eminem mission. I also like the reference to the poison that is transferred by touch that is so crucial to the ending of the main story, I’m honestly really excited and hope it’s really fun!

Mumbai, the best map, is not user-friendly at all. I assume the thinking is that an ET there, especially a CelebrET, would deter or overwhelm newer players. There are too many fun and interesting zones of interest and challenge and infiltration – you would need to interconnect a few areas and have a complex roaming route, or confine the target to one fortress, which neglects much of the map. Well, then you could highlight the target in red… and the target would elicit an overly complex interconnecting system of opportunities and manipulations… and then we’re basically having the age-old conversation that these more interesting ETs should be Special Assignments or another form of DLC.

All very well and good and not at all changing the fact that the map hasn’t had an ET. None of the maps are good for the ET format, because the ET format itself isn’t good, and they have no issues in revamping them for celebrities. So, they need to do it at least once, and the same for the other three with nothing. If there’s gonna be a Year 6, and if more CelebETs are to be used, let’s actually get some use out of these barren maps.

I suspect whatever poison/virus aspect the mission has is going to be severely nerfed, after all they’re not going to make it easy for it to cause the new players to fail. They want them to like the mission enough that they buy the full game.

Now that you mention it, they might be trying to tie it into resident evil, which also comes out in feb, with the actress from the movies.

I think they announced it this way since Milla was presenting and they needed a reason for her to be there?

I wonder if the mission will have a “if possible do not touch or approach the target under X meters or you will be infected”. Or the same room or floor.
It would be an interesting twist.
Pushing for an indirect, remote, steps ahead, or “I’m already gone” elimination.

It’s only a small thing,
But I am hyped for the fog effect.

(And I think that is Gregory dying in the trailer)

If the game runs in parallel with 007 First Light.
I wonder how possible it would be to have the updated Glacier Engine be pushed onto the game.

And IOI, I want that dress as an unlock, thank you.

So happy that we finally a female CelebET, and a new ET that actually ties into the game lore!!

I do find it hilarious that with the titling, casting, and release of this seems to be riding off the success of the next Resident Evil game. IOI is blatantly after the money but I can’t help but laugh instead of be disappointed at them this time. :joy: Who knows though, maybe this actually IS a official Resident Evil collab

i’m very curious what they’ll come up with for the mission completion suit lol

Mumbai would likely need at minimum 2 targets to work best for ET.

Then maybe this “requiem” for Patient Zero takes place well after the events of PZ, sometime in the H2 timeline, though you’re probably right IOI will hand waive it as non-canon.

Here’s an interesting line from two partygoers in Mendoza: “So, de Waal survives just long enough to retract his statement, appoint a Providence-backed successor as CEO of Ether and then he accidentally slips in his bathtub during an anxiety attack.”

I wonder if he appointed Milla’s character here. But IOI can hand waive this away too, since the dialogue more or less describes De Waal’s situation as conspiracy.
