Season of the Wizard - Roadmap summer 2026

I agree, but we should have a replacement for him. Even during summer there are issues that need to be addressed with game.

Good tbh, i think that a noir mode should be some kind of optional toggle

It’s a reference to a specific blind or blindfolded player right?

Oh so you don’t have to eliminate Zoe and Sophia Washington? Instead you can say create a custom contract of assassinating just one person whilst disguised as the Entertainer and as long as no bodies are found, this will unlock the outfit?

Yes it’s a reference to @lukedotpng , best known for his blindfold runs, who uses a golden retriever as his profile pic. This outfit was his reward for winning a speedrun competition.

Yes, exactly. You might even look for existing single target contracts, that have the name of the challenge. There definitely is one on Steam.

Slim Shady (2026) ET challenges are live now, @thrison - not sure if early players like you will have to wait until the end of the ET live period before the challenges pop, as we’ve seen before.

Good to see someone from IO is reading this thread. I was worried they’d leave it until the end of ET.

I didn’t complete it until the challenges were live, so I’m good. I didn’t want to risk getting missed in their tidy up process and lose my 100% challenge completion for the game.

I just had 24 hours of an itch on my completionist brain knowing there was something I hadn’t done in the game yet. :joy:

That is very dissapointed, it would give high Noir vibes without activate the real instinct mode.

Please, Devs re-activate the purple streak Coin.

However, I got the purple Lockpick.

Thank you for made a long living Stealth Game, here is your Reward:

The legendary purple Duck Assassin enter the Stage. Codename: The Twitcher

See you around. <3

I’ve completed it before… sad

This roadmap is too spread out. It’s gonna be another full week, and then another after that, before the last bits of real content become playable, and even those are yet more repeats. All new items that can be unlocked already have been. And we’re still looking at another month before anything new, unless they plan to reveal the next roadmap before the current season’s ETs finish their runs. I wish they would either spread the newer content out a little more, provide more unlocks to last through the season, or make these timeframes just slightly tighter.

I agree, but this isn’t new. There was a point in June where we were similarly nearly a month away from any new content (if you were a veteran player and had already unlocked everything). Every Christmas we get that Elusive Target Galore bit where for about a month there’s nothing to do in the game if you played each elusive target when it was released that year. I too wish that the roadmaps were “tighter” and provided more consistent activity.

I know, it just seems more, I dunno, prominent right now, I guess.

I think with the release of the Bond game there is sort of a general feeling that IOI is winding down World of Assassination. Despite them saying there will still be new celebrity elusive targets, and despite the twitch drops and the occasional new challenges, there is a feeling like the updates are getting fewer, the roadmaps more spread out (remember when the roadmaps were monthly?) and the live content (videos, chats, etc.) are getting fewer and farther between. Maybe it’s just perception, but it does feel like the game is coming to some sort of an end… and the news about IOI closing studios and laying off development staff isn’t helping.

Maybe Co-operative mode will kick some new life into the game for people who like that sort of thing. Maybe there will be news on a new game sometime soon. Maybe the next roadmap will just be amazing… but those are all “maybes”.

I know that once I was loading this game almost every single day and now it might be once a week if there’s actually something to do.

Well, if they’re gonna wind down the game and finally bring it to an end, I’d prefer they just get to it. Not only will this hopefully kickstart them finally addressing all the major fixes that are needed, with no future updates to fuck them up again, but we’d also finally know when we don’t have to worry about anymore challenges to complete, repeats of the same ETs, and just maybe we’d finally get that fully replayable plain ET mode and a fully accessible offline mode as well. At this point, unless they’ve got some major surprises in store for us still to come, let’s go ahead and wrap it up and call it a finished product.

The only things I can remember that are “still to come” are the cooperative mode and a couple celebrity elusive targets. I know people have asked for things like a snowy map, airport, modifications to contracts mode, and freelancer enhancements, but I don’t think IOI has confirmed any work is being done on any of that. I dunno.

Evert roadmap for a while now have the third month feeling empty.
It’s usually:

  • First month enthusiast with new celebrET and pack content and imagining what will be possible with the new items and mechanic.
  • Second month calm.
  • Third month feeling a mix of the excitement passing, expectation of the next roadmap arriving, personal idiosyncratic wishlists and disappointments returning, and a bit of looking around and realising that nothing added was actually impactful in the long run.

This roadmap feels it even more.
It’s first month new content was less impactful. It’s an iteration of previous content.
We had the kind of “what’s next” post usually seen at the end of a roadmap since the start of it as a consequence.

But IOI released an entire game, presumably with all hands on deck.
The iteration was also a frequent community ask.
So fair is fair.

Wouldn’t even be surprised if that’s why we had the Wizard: less resources to allocate, freeing them around.
(might also be that it’s also drowned by First Light for the general public while welcomed by the player base, avoiding the uncomfortable pr question of the previous iteration)

Also Summer Holidays for the devs.

On a personal level: yeah the ET format is tiresome, unfun, and stessful by now.
And it’s most of the content.

It’s just running the dice on my completion. It’s on me, and my decision to engage with the game this way, if under its encouragement.
But it’s still the way I feel.

(Heck on the running the dice: I had a major bug on the Ex-Dictator and had to gamble on a hard-reset. Once in a blue moon the Propane Flask stashed in a globe in the Jordan Cross Birthday Party room explodes by itself taking out a few non-targets. It happened. After I took out the ET targets.)

I hope IOI expands a bit on Freelancer.
It’s what’s played.
I think it’s where long run and felt impact would be.
I think the game needs some.

Or, since this is Year 6, this is fine.
We have monthly new items and new suits.
The new items are quite complex and novel.
The empty weeks are rare, and made to highlight the celebrETs.
Most of us have thousands of hours of play, so no surprise it feels we done it all.

Compared to Year 3, or 4. We are feasting.
It’s in line with Year 5 too.

Just to make the point, yes, it’s year 6 of the World of Assassination as a complete game, but it’s year 10 of the overall Hitman game if you count 2016 as Year 1, when Hitman first came out (the current iteration anyway). 10 years is a pretty long time to be supporting and still providing any content for a game, really. There are certainly games that have been supported longer, but (showing my own age) I can still remember when live service wasn’t a thing at all. The game released and that was it - forever.

I doubt they’ll be winding down WoA and putting their live service focus onto 007 First Light. On Steam, the 007 patch last week moved the needle slightly for people playing the game on Steam during the weekend, but then things went to normal and set a new all-time low during the week.

I suspect they’ll keep WoA limping along for some time, since it has more people playing it than 007, meaning more opportunities to sell $5 DLCs and make more money from the players.

Until the WoA cash cow winds down and people stop buying the DLCs, I don’t think they’ll pull the pin on it.
