[Serious - TW: Sexual Assault] Conor McGregor (The Disruptor) verdict and presence in the game

Because I list point by point what’s wrong with it, and I’m talking about your comment, of him still being allowed to call it great, as being irrelevant.

They can just do something like the Dead by Daylight team did when they had issues with the Stranger Things collab, meaning rewriting the skills (items in this case) and doing something similar to the killer (ET in this case).
I don’t think anyone would complain about that, except purists that WANT to have the guy in the game because he was there at one point which honestly just play peacock at that point.

Edit: Anyways we’ll have to see what they’re gonna do know after removing it, it could either come back like the preorder suits or be exclusive like the commemorative coins.

I hope they are able to rework it with a different actor cause it is one of the highest effort ETs in terms of map changes, several kill opportunities, and they even got David Bateson to record new lines as 47 for the mission which almost never happens for ETs. And without Conor’s ego, maybe they could get rid of stuff like the mandatory camera movements and the stupid end cutscene.

I wasn’t familiar with the whole situation these past months, but now that this has come out it feels really dirty continuing to play a mission with him in it. I don’t want the mission itself to fall into obscurity, just Conor himself.

also , “canonically” you can’t even actually kill him, he always gets revived at the end

still up on Steam for now

Out of the 4 CelebrETs we’ve gotten so far, 2 of them have been removed/blacklisted for this reason. They’re just flipping a coin between “horrible person” and “not horrible person” I guess
*not known to be horrible

I will be devastated if Sean Bean ever turns out to be awful

I do also see it on Epic still. The cynical part of my brain says they’re keeping it up for a bit to try and get panic buys… but hopefully it just takes time.

if they aren’t able to rework the elusive target itself, i do hope they give us a cleaned up version of this suit without the Conor branding

Well, good on IOI for doing the right thing in the end.

Maybe the next CelebrET can be a toss-up between P Diddy and Jared Fogle

I do find it rather bizarre to cut off the running ET though, could’ve atleast just let it expire on its own.

not something I would’ve preferred on my account

Damn, good on them. Happy to see it.

This de-freezes my perception of IOI. It’s still fluid and not with the best current position, but the bearing is positive.

Not too unhappy about that, it would’ve contradicted their stance on Twitter.

IOI today, probably

They made a mistake, and while some damage is already done, they can minimize the consequences. For that, I believe their decision is for the better in the large scope.

However, this can potentially create another example of FOMO, which, although arguably a lesser evil, still leaves a bad taste to everyone’s mouth.

If they want to truly minimize the damage, they should come up with alternative means to get unlocks associated with The Disruptor, whether that be tweaking and re-releasing the existing contents or through completely new methods.

Alrighty,

So let’s begin.

It’s evident that Conor McGregor and IO’s relationship is bound by contracts to have his inclusion in the game. The issue is McGregor most likely getting royalties for the DLC purchase.

In an ideal world of today IO would come out and say The Disruptor won’t return and the DLC is getting delisted from public sale.

Given contracts have been signed and the Ink has dried and the overall fact I’m sure there isn’t a clause in the contract that royalties will cease if McGregor is found guilty of heinous acts IO’s best approach is to simply pay out the man as terrible as it sounds and delist the DLC from sale.

I usually don’t advocate for DLC Delisting, but this circumstance especially when it comes to a series and developer I care for. I don’t like the fact that McGregor now that he is found guilty of his wrongdoing is being immortalized in HITMAN 3.

I won’t advocate for the blatant removal of the content from the servers simply due to the logistical nightmare that is how do they make it right for the people who purchased the DLC associated with this Target.

I do think, it’s best going forward for IO to have less problematic people as their Celebrity Elusive Targets.

Wow. Good on IOI for putting out a statement and swiftly removing access to buy the DLC (most likely financially supporting McGregor since I’d bet the continuous use/sale of his likeness and access to his ET must mean he gets paid some sort of royalties.) The DLC pack has been removed from PSN.

Yeah, hopefully this causes IOI to reconsider pushing so hard into Celebrity ET’s in the future. I have no clue how much each increases playtime or purchases of WoA, but nearly every time in H3 it’s been baffling.

Did anyone from the MMA community really go out and buy this game just because Gregor is in it??

Anyway, I at the least hope this content gets reskinned or the non-mcgregor stuff gets added back in later.
I had the DLC on my wishlist (along with the Drop DLC) hoping for a sale, since I mostly just care about the Freelancer Items in the set.

Agreed. Disregard my no refund remark that just would open up another can of worms. However I do stand by my previous message that vouchers should be offered for the next celebrity DLC either in exchange for forfeiture of the DLC or as compensation should the DLC still be unilaterally locked for everyone.

IO could also add a feature to contracts mode where players making contracts can choose to ban The Disruptor unlocks of any kind in their missions.

IOI can either leave the content for people who already paid, or offer the option of a refund vs. free future content.

I never bought the DLC, is the Disrapetor completely gone for those of you that did?

I don’t need The Disruptor for this. Eliminating the Meat King’s brother in Hitman Contracts (2004) is enough to achieve the same effect.
