Apparently Randy was inspired to make a Borderlands movie after seeing Tales From The Borderlands. A shame he wasn’t inspired to make it good like Tales of the Borderlands.

I doubt the writers saw let alone played either Borderlands or Tales from the Borderlands when working on the movie. 
Everything I have heard about the writing is that it is unfunny, shallow, dated and painful so I reckon they did play at least one of the games, Borderlands 3 or at least the parts of 3 that don’t take place on Eden-6

And everything was going so well for video game based movies for the past several years. Finally escaped the era of shitty Uwe Boll movies and now we’re right back at square one. Funnily enough, the Postal movie (his best movie if you can believe it) had a budget of $15 million witch it made ~$147 million at the box office

Wow, people really forgot the Uncharted movie, the Tomb Raider reboot film and probably a few more.

Yeah, because they were bad. Ergo things have not been good for video game movies, sure maybe it has been good for video game TV shows but not movies.

I’ve only played the Telltale Borderlands adaptation. I’m sure that would’ve made a better film, surely.
