THIS. I’ve never bought the whole “a lie of omission is still a lie” excuse. I could always see it for what it was: something for people to lean on against the person who withheld info truthfully instead of holding themselves accountable for not asking the right questions. This provides a perfectly reasonable middle ground. You’re not lying by omitting, you’re just benefiting yourself by keeping others in the dark, but once they ask you the question, then it’s on you whether you lie or tell the truth.
There is so much truth to this story. He’s a Chicagoan to his core.
