Atleast it isn’t the Nike game
I guess, maybe BGIII will win me over when I finally play it but I haven’t thought it is all that, know what I mean?
Did Spider-Man even win awards?
I’d like to thank my reformed orthodox rabbi, Bill Clinton!
Baldur’s SWEEEEP
Okay now I HAVE to check out that game. Just hoping for a physical release or a sale.
I wanna either save time with my internet (because I know its massive) or my money because I’ve never/don’t play games like BG3 so I’m still unsure if I’d enjoy it.
No clue. I only started watching towards the end. No idea why because the exact thing I thought was going to happen did happen.
I checked. They didn’t, goes to show even something as big as blind brand loyalty can’t win.
I feel like that was proven when Indie darling It Takes Two won GOTY agsinst big names like Resident Evil 8, Metroid: Dread and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart
I kinda wish the artsy game beat out the big dogs this year. Though I would like to point out that the arbitrary industry standards does mean that a double A game won GAME’s GOTY this year.
Yea but Sony Ponies and the brand recognition that is Spider-Man is nothing to sneeze about especially with how big Marvel is now.I got called some not so nice things after I gave an honest opinion about Spider Man 2 and the way things went tonight I’m just glad all Spider Man has to show is over priced ugly sports wear
Hey that is a cheap shot. Nike’s Spider-Man 2 themed merchandise isn’t ugly and expensive because of Spider-Man it is because everything Nike makes is expensive and ugly!
"Baldur’s Gate 3.
As the words were read off the card, my heart sunk in my chest. Another failure. Another misstep. Another ripped-up draft. The Dark Presence had slipped into my mind once more, overwriting the ending I needed.
The crowd’s cheering faded, as if smoke in a dark night.
I needed to try again. To write my escape. But The Game Awards was not the place I’d do it."
Can’t wait for New Game Plus and more Wake next week!
I actually really enjoyed The Finals beta, so will be nice to get into the game properly now that is out. My only concern is how the free to play, monetisation aspect will be handled. I’ll give it a shot tomorrow and see how it is.
Also I need to get Baldur’s Gate 3 at some point as well.
As someone who has gotten some free Nike from my job I can say I disagree
I guess it is a matter of taste, I have always been an Asics man myself. Maybe it is just the brand shoes that are bad because I swear every time they cross promote the shoes are just not that appealing to me.
Outside the well deserved prizes, TGA treats developers without respect. Hurrying them to finish their speeches just like that…

Corpo bullshit.
EDIT: The DICE (game developer-centric) Awards are this Thursday February 15th at 8:00pm PT for anyone who’s interested in a potentially less corporate show
Goddamn man. Game Awards. Such a joke for awards, we know. But seeing how clinical and cold their speech system is setup is just so sad.
Neil Newbon, steps on-stage at about 0:32 and gets played off at 1:32. (He also unknowingly “wastes” 10 seconds hugging Christopher Judge and handing off the award)
Sam Lake. Steps on-stage and immediately gets handed his award at around 0:23 – then gets played off starting at 1:23.
It’s even scarier to watch after it all since you know they’re under a time-crunch they probably didn’t expect, with nerves they have to shake off with a looming timer ahead of them. Jeez.
BAFTAs game awards is going on now!
(They just briefly had Jane Perry announce “Welcome to the 2024 Bafta Games Awards!” Hehe wooo
(She’s actually the disembodied voice announcing all the games I’m sure!)
They’ve got a comedian hosting and he’s got some great games jokes already, and fun british humour
Edit: could only watch 30 mins before work earlier, am continuing it now, and 50 mins in I’m really enjoying it!
Really feels like a celebration between peers in the industry. Great celebratory audience for nominees and its just nominees. No breaks for truck-loads of game ads or sponsors or the like.
