Just a little peek on what’s to come

That’s the kind of accessible interior I was hoping for
So I guess Mei Ling is doing alright for herself then.
Even if IO doesn’t care about consistency, let us do better
I still wonder how they could fuck up so many names in Contracts - Lei Ling, Tzun, Boris, the Targets from Hunter & Hunted changed in Blood Money…
Only Alvaro D’Alvade has his name changed from Philippe Berceuse in Contracts. Guess a lot of thing can change during a 2 year development. It also sounds better so it’s an okay change but for the rest of the changes in Contracts and I don’t mean just character names, it’s unacceptable
yeah obviously, but did nobody think to…idk, boot up Codename 47 or in BM´s case Contracts to check those names?
Not sure how big the Hitman series was back in the day so they probably though not many would care about such trivial things.
Really happy that nowadays devs can rectify such easy to fix errors and immediately release patches to everyone
i´m not too sure if this is a blessing or a curse, tbh.
Because while we do get immediate fixes for problems, studios are incentivized to rush a product to market that they have to fix?
Hit the nail right on the head with that one. Though its lovely that quick patches are a thing now. You do notice a trend of a lotta games coming out half baked and buggy with the promise of later fixes.
That’s an issue because consumers pre-orders / buy on day 1 without waiting for reviews and are pretty tolerant with issues in-game
Back in the day, if you released a buggy game, that was IT. A good example is Sin
From the Wikipedia article
Another major concern was the abundance of bugs and glitcheslittered throughout the game. Some of the more widely reported bugs include a total lack of sound in the game, an end of chapter boss which couldn’t move, a level on one path through the game not being finishable and general game crashes. Although these bugs were quickly patched up, the damage of the negative publicity had already been done, especially with the majority of the press reviewing the unpatched version. The patch was exceptionally large; at the time it was normal to expect a game patch file to be up to 5 MB in size, whereas SiN 's first patch was over 31 MB. This was at a time when a substantial percentage of internet access was via dial-up, causing Activision to take the unusual step of offering to send CDs containing the patch to any owners of the game who did not have sufficient bandwidth to download it from the Internet. A likely explanation for the multitude of bugs is that the game may have been rushed to meet the 1998 Christmas season, possibly as an attempt to beat Half-Life to market.
Exactly that. Its cool to see that devs can fix bugs later down the line, but i feel more often we get half the Game we paid for and stuff like multiplayer or other game modes arrive half a year later - if the game sold well enough, otherwise they just stay unfinished.
Off-topic but it’s weird that Berceuse is mentioned in Diana Burnwood’s ICA File trailer.
Alvaro is still Alvaro of course (because of his mentions in WOA), but it does intrigue me. Could mean/be anything or nothing.
If I remember correctly someone said that the names are not accurate because Contracts happened inside of 47’s conscience thing and he’s struggling to get details right.
Alright new headcanon: the officer with the jacket in Curtains Down is Philippe Berceuse and 47 mixed the names up.
/s if it wasn’t obvious
…if you could blend in, maybe do some Mime like movements, but in a stiff and robotic way… People will think it’s part of the art expo, like performance art.
Yeaah Contracts is like a happy accident, everything from name changes to remastered levels and the short narrative fits to the “psychology of an assassin”
if you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
Inspector, you’ve obviously learned too much about my briefcases. I can’t have that… not even in my death.
