It’s not the first time. They already did it back in 2023 when the patch adding The Drop ET content was released when The Food Critic Year 3 was still active. More recently, they did it for the hotfix patch on The Splitter last December which even edited the same ET that was active.
Since both instances seem to have gone off without a hitch, they probably believe it’s safe to do patches during ETs and they don’t need to be as worried as they were in the past.
Its an absolute joke that this saving issue is still in the game and even worse they refuse to talk about it. Clowns. I definitely won’t buy their next game in when I know they can just leave a game in this state and completely ignore their players
Really, they can? I’m jealous. I had that issue fixed in one patch they did in like late 2023, then it was broken forever with the following patch after that lol. Haven’t been able to grab that fuse in like 1 year and a half. At this point I think us PS4 Freelancers will have to make do without our craftable explosives… I’d love to be proven wrong on that, hopefully it’s this patch that does it…
I’d love to know what IO’s sales targets are for the PSVR2 DLC.
I can’t imagine the venn diagram of PSVR2 owners and those that own/will own WoA and are willing to give IO another chance with a VR mode will have that much over an overlap.
After previous VR reception, they probably should’ve launched it with a F2P weekend or something to get people to try it to see if its actually decent. Then lock them out and paywall it.
A while ago, I got linked to the PSVR2 subreddit and, surprisingly, very few people were actually unhappy with the prospect of Hitman: WOA on PSVR2, and it was seen as largely positive. Even the news articles I’ve read have admitted it’s been rough, but it looks like they’ve figured it all out.
I think the venn diagram’s intersection is larger than you might think.
I do expect that it will be a decent experience to play. Though I have a little feeling that is because they took the Sony money to fund it, but the real plan is to lift what they’ve done out of WoA and drop it into Project 007.
Doesn’t PSVR2 have a pretty low install base? With Hitman being a niche game (though IO are trying to break out of that) I can’t imagine the number of players with the hardware and the game are going to be that great. Online chatter can be positive, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re also people that will be buying it.
Given that Sony has been starving their own customers of proper first-party titles from their own studios and exclusive IP, (plus no backwards compatibility with PSVR1 games), this is a community that’ll take whatever wins we can get.
(And I mean, the subreddit is full of VR enthusiasts who really like this device and gameplay medium)
I’m exaggerating a little above, but in this isolated ecosystem Sony has built, with some genuinely good tech in the head/hardware itself, and I’m assuming the absence of Hitman VR for PS5 up until now, it’s a genuine thrill for many to see a high-profile massive game finally get VR2 support here.
Like, in terms of heavy-hitting “Must Buy” for PSVR2, HitmanVR is automatically gonna put itself in the top 5/10 lists once its out. (Provided it’s not broken and full of errors and bugs)
The subreddit has even been making their own flowcharts for Hitman WOA VR support (bless them) and notifying people when the Main/Deluxe games are on sale.
Some folks have said that they’ve never played the new Hitman entries, and they’re buying it to experience WOA in VR as their first introduction to it.
Ah, gamers in love…
Edit: though, ugh, all that community help with flowcharts is gonna take quite a few hits if IO releases this new Part One VR Edition branded bundle…
It’s unlisted, but the launch trailer of the PSVR2 is out, provided you have the link.
I must say kudos on interactivity.
The fact that you can take a glass of champagne from the waiter in Dubai is nice to see.
And I hope a good augur of work made on feedbacks.
(it infamously was something people tried when playing Dubai, since it naturally was presented in the scene, in the first minute of the first level, and then couldn’t.)
I wonder how they’ll manage it? Will they just make it a new inventory item? Do you need to bring in two silverballers? Two pistols and just press a button to combine them ala-Absolution?
It’s gonna be interesting. I feel like you’re right on the money Thrison.
Do we say the roadmap drops today? If so, I hope the patch notes drop in enough time to read them before we launch the game up! I always just want to dive into the new update and never really have chance to digest the patch notes
The March 31st end date on the previous roadmap was likely just one of the many mistakes on that particular roadmap. Also because within a few hours of the patch going out, all their secrets would be revealed anyway.
