After nearly 20 years, Le Tigre is reunited and touring again.
Went to a concert today. Ordered the tickets over a year and a half ago. Meant to go in March last year. Concert got delayed, I think(?) due to COVID.
Band is Sabaton. My dad became a big fan of them so wanted to go see them. My uncle organised tickets for 4 of us. Talked to my dad on Sunday, talk about the concert as I need to tell my boss I’m off Tuesday 25th. Say to dad maybe check with uncle to see everything is alright, dad says he’ll do it later. Get a call later, dad tells me he somehow messed up, got the dates confused, it was for this Tuesday the 18th. He and a friend couldn’t go because they can’t get the time off work.
So I drove me and my uncle up to Glasgow today for the concert. A shame because it was my dad who really wanted to see them. Still, we beat the traffic on the M8, had nice dinner, and I think the concert was great.
First opener was Lordi, the Finnish band that won Eurovision 2006. They were cool. The singer was a lot of fun, talking about warming up the audience. “You always get one person in the audience saying ‘where is Sabaton, why do I have to watch this fat bastard in a rubber suit?’”
Second opener was BABYMETAL, a Japanese metal idol group. They were a lot of fun, they definitely had some fans in the crowd wearing their shirts. They did a ton of dancing and choreography with their singing. Considering how gruelling the idol industry is, you could see how hard they worked in their performance, it was really impressive.
Sabaton came on and they had tons of pyrotechnics and stuff. The drum set was on top of a tank. At one point, they had a pianist playing the piano with the bass player standing on top of the piano whilst the piano was on fire. The guys were really cool too, said it was the best Tuesday crowd they had ever seen.
So yeah had fun tonight. I don’t really do concerts, I think only been to like 6 in my whole life. Wonder if I should try and do them a little more often. It’s just I have sensory issues and get headaches easily, and I often hate the getting there and leaving and crowds etc. I need to take advantage of Edinburgh’s theatre scene as well and the Festival, but jeez is navigating the Festival a nightmare.

I was too young and out of pop culture to realise… this game had an awesome riff on the X-Files theme song!

Today is purported to be Shakespeare’s birthday and also the day he died. Next year would be his 460th Birthday if he were alive today,
Of course if he had in fact lived to have been 460 I would reckon he would be more famous for doing that.
I’ve been thinking of that game a lot recently.
Sucks it’s stranded on the Wii.
I think the version in-game is actually a cover. Still brings back memories though! I always associate the following song with it:
edit: video embeds are back again woo
“5 years, 5 years, still you, still me, still here.”
Not entirely appropriate, but it popped in my head today
Been a fan of french rapper Orelsan for a few years, but for some reason I get more into it during spring, so his albums are currently going on loop on my Spotify.
This live performance is pretty cool.
and this is pretty chill:
a slight music/genre spoiler here, but uh… fun Inscryption boss battle music
I love the dial-up internet inspiration
Thank you Wayback Machine! I had a dead link, couldn’t remember the name of the song, but WM had a snapshot.
This has all(?) the songs, not just the 1st one.
Say… I know this topic title has been the same for a long time, but what about adding a to it? @ZeroGravitas
Or don’t. It’s only a suggestion.
Not sure I posted this one before… If the ^other vid gets boring.
