I learned this when I asked my magic box when pop stars started writing their own stuff or really I meant when it became common. Temptations didn’t write their stuff neither did Elvis, Madonna did but Whitney not as much, the Spice Girls did, but Backstreet and Brittany did not. That stuff always fascinates me. Especially like Boy Meets Girl - Waiting for a Star to Fall. They wrote that for Whitney Houston (they wrote a bunch of her songs), but she didn’t want it and neither did anyone else. They knew it was a hit so they just made it themselves… and they were right lol.
