Yeah, I know, but I forgot. I noticed the grey image of that lost ET only two days ago
will you guys ever rerun elusive targets from previous years so players on new platforms can get a shot at all of them? for example steam players never had a chance to do the year 1 ets
Rerunning previous years would be cool. I donât personally need it but the game has brought in new players a lot over the years so it would be good.
Thank you! Iâm guessing it was just accidentally skipped during the year. Great to hear itâs not going to lay dormant and unused like the Y2/Y3 variants of The Sensation/Pharmacist/Warlord.
Itâs all the same ETs though. Youâre not missing any variation on them, only the checkmark for âcompleted this ET 4 or 5 years agoâ.
Youâre not taking the âcompletionistâs desire to scratch that itchâ into consideration though. ![]()
Meh. I had to give up on that before I started, since I didnât discover H1 until it was too late for the performance coins. And then they started doing stuff like Twitch drops, which I have no interest in signing up for, and reskin-only DLCs that I have no interest in paying for.
In no sense was it this yearâs flagship ET. Iâd say The Infiltrator was, more than anything (celebrity endorsed, had unique mechanics, and lots of production value and good design ideas. It was only hampered by the confusing tasks and oppressive location choice, but at least most parts of the gameplay were fairly logical to work out). Just because it was rarely re-run doesnât mean it was notable in any other way. Iâd rather I forgot it re-ran tbh, because, as iâve said many times before on here, itâs a terrible ET contract that confuses and tricks players, and is insanely linear.
It is embarrassing it re-ran without a rework, or the very least, it shouldâve been put into an ETA contract beforehand so players could learn it more easily.
I mean, they kind of are. Thereâs no reason for IO to re-run the year one ETâs, outside of pandering to Steam players even more because players decided not to buy the game in the first year. These contracts are easily ignored in the main menu, and the missions are re-run (in the same structure, release timings, and format!) in each year anyway, so itâs not like players are losing anything either, that would be a different matter if that were the case.
I get that itâs not the best ET, I have no argument there, but I donât understand why you hate this one in particular quite so much. There are others that are equally bad/linear (I would love to see a glitchless run of the Sensation that doesnât involve the sprint-and-poison method) but for this one in particular you seem to need to point out how much you dislike it. I quite like it myself, and I think itâs pretty straightforward if you pay attention to the briefing.
For the record, Iâm not trying to change your opinion. I just donât understand why this oneâs such a sore spot in particular that every time someone says they enjoy it, you have to correct their opinion :âp
If I remember right, you also objected very passionately to it being added to Arcade.
In my opinion, the biggest problem with the Fixer is that itâs the only Elusive Target that requires the player to not kill the target or you will fail (until the conversation has been completed) and the requirement to get the diamonds cannot be accomplished until you follow the courier around and he makes the transfer. If you take out the courier before the transfer happens, you wonât end up with the diamonds and youâll fail. If you take out the shopkeeper who has the diamonds originally, you wonât end up with the diamonds and youâll fail. In short, thereâs too many ways to fail the mission that arenât really explained very well (or at all) and the player is the one who suffers for it.
Itâs a unique mechanic in the game that (as far as I know) is only used the one time and never again. That makes it very confusing for the player if they donât know how to do it (and thereâs really only one or two ways to do it).
I canât speak for Drib but thatâs what I assume the main issue was.
And thatâs why it belongs in Arcade, in a special multi-level format like the CelebETs have. The first level, you donât fail for doing things out of order, but you lose out on 5 stars. The next level is the original format, where you have to play it out as itâs meant to be. New players will get the idea by the second level, and if not, can try again 30 minutes later until they figure it out.
Yeah, fair. The insta-fail is definitely the main issue. There probably shouldâve been a second route to uncovering the location of the diamonds, as a backup plan.
I still think calling it an âembarrassmentâ is a little harsh though, and itâs a little unnecessary to come out to shout about it every time the topic comes up.
There are certain members of this forum that certainly have strong opinions and they are not shy about them. Iâm not saying itâs right or itâs wrong, but after years on this forum, I (and many others Iâm sure) can probably predict with pretty good accuracy whoâs going to comment on certain topics and who isnât. Donât get me wrong, I love the engagement and I encourage those members to keep contributing, but itâs a thing.
Personally, I agree The Fixer is a terrible ET, but I still want him to come back simply for the principle of me wanting every content in the game to be playable, specially when I know that content is finished and is in the gameâs files, but is not accesible. Itâs the exact same reason of why I want all ETs to be replayable, the Deceivers to be available without a âNo Loadoutâ complication and The Disruptor, The Infiltrator and (in the future) The Reflection to come back permanently.
I hate this limited time nonsense in my full-priced, singleplayer only game. I want everything to be available, even if some of that content sucks.
I think a lot of us are still clinging to the hope that eventually, when the game finally reaches its end of life and live service ends there will be one final patch that makes the entire game fully playable off-line. I donât know how realistic that is, but IOI has certainly heard the voice of the fans.
Looks like it was a very quick tease during the show, as it was on the screen for about 5 seconds after Diana introduced the target by saying âOne touch can be deadlyâ and that there was a threat in DartmoorâŚ
@Codename-24 Well done on getting that thread out, I frantically posted it in here haha ![]()
Wait what
interesting, part of the Patient Zero storyline?
Iâm hoping for a multipass like in the 5th Element.
Finally a female target again, first since The Ascensionist! Women are just as capable of getting their brains blown out or drowned in a pool of their own vomit as men are!
I wonder if getting the next Celeb ET so early next year is a sign weâll be getting four celeb ETs in Year 6. It would fit with the trend: Year 3 - 1 new ET, Year 4 - 2 new ETs, Year 5 - 3 new ETs. Hereâs hoping her DLC is actually sold permanently!
