The Undying returns (Play for Free Y5: April 17 - May 11 2025)

Done. Disabled the security system, then KOed and hid every guard and scientist in the area Faba hangs out in, plus Knox, and then gathered up every vial of nitro boost around, plus the gunpowder in the locker with the detonator, and set them all on the table with the bomb. As soon as Faba was alone and standing in front of it - if you’ll pardon the crude choice of words - that bomb blew harder than a hooker paid extra. Walked out of the map SASO.

Welp, another messed up SASONKO. Just so you know, you don’t just scan the photo to the robot and expect it to be fine, or you’ll get a collateral.

Shame I didn’t see how it happened - forgot those two were still patrolling. Maybe a clean kill would’ve worked if I’d scanned the photo when he’s point blank, but gotta see in the ETA if there’s a moment when no one’s watching.

The photo has always worked for me, including during my run at the current reactivation last weekend. :person_shrugging: Perhaps you got particularly unlucky.

I think it’s his bodyguard that is behind him. You’ll need to get rid of him beforehand (probably by dropping a weapon in the nearby room where the blueprints are).

That’s very, very unfortunate and I think you got unlucky. For example see my run from last year:

I guess so. At least we now know there is a possibility, so it isn’t the safest SA strat.

@pppirri
My money is on that SOB over there.

Not sure exactly when the android starts blasting - maybe when Mr. Returns just enters the room, maybe when he’s up close - but that scientist seems to be on the line of fire either way. And unlike the bodyguard, he’s inconsistent - walks back and forth, doesn’t always stand behind that desk - so that could explain why he survives in other people’s runs.

@Axwage
Really smooth run, nicely done!
Considering how often the game’s been screwing me over like that lately (like every third run), I’m pretty sure it holds a grudge because I can’t get to finish the main story for so long. I’m always off playing other games, only showing up for the ET FOMO, so it’s like: “Oh, you wanna cheat on me? Eat shit.”

SA/SO twitch loadout only, rubber duck to open the stairway between the 1st and 2nd floor, took out the bodyguards + guard overlooking the stairs, used a gun lure and some coins to set-up the accident.

The reason I shot the prop outside is because I forgot to unlock the hut beforehand… (you can throw a coin as close as possible to a door and usually NPCs will unlock it for you).

They posted some new stats for the undying on twitter

Because you’re killing Faba for good in the Returns edition.

The idea is, the Undying original presentation followed the gimmick, because he came back. Returns is when we actually succeed in finally killing him.

Has there been an Undying Part 3? No. It stopped after the Undying Returns. Ergo, Undying Returns, unless IOI puts out another version that shows he survived a 2nd time with a new bandage or a cast or something, 47 succeeds in killing him the 2nd time he goes at him.

In the Hitman universe, unless a character shows up later and is revealed to be not dead, it is to be assumed until such an event that they are in fact dead. This is especially true when 47 is the one who kills them, although not exclusive to him. Diana, Grey, Valiant, etc. Even Faba himself was considered dead, until Returns was released. Unlike most cases in fiction, where even seeing a person’s body doesn’t mean they stay dead forever, in Hitman, when someone is said to have died, it can be taken at face value until revealed otherwise. In the case of the Undying, unless he shows up a canonical 3rd time, he’s dead now.

I see you’ve been a good student :slight_smile:
Great for you :+1:

I didn’t even see the video haha, I guess ‘‘great assassins think alike’’ or something like that.

Interesting that the success rate dropped so much. In April last year, it was at 52.49%.

My instinct tells me that means there are new players. Which means that whatever IOI is doing, marketing and growth wise, is working. Which means good luck gettin them zendesk bug reports heard!

“Gotta see in the ETA if there’s a moment when no one’s watching” ended up being this:

Took me way too much time and planning to pull this off, especially level 2 with the bomb. And by the way, if you’ve ever wondered whether you really need to remove the octane boosters from the bomb table - yes, you do. Otherwise they go off, kill Faba, and turn your gruesome accident into premeditated murder, even though it wasn’t you who placed them there.

As for the android kill - I did the exact same thing and this time nobody else died. Couldn’t capture the actual show (thanks to Knox and his goons pacing right on time), but look at the minimap (30:50): both white coats are on the line of fire, and Yu + the bodyguard are right next to Faba - still no collateral.
What kind of cursed luck it had to be during my ET run?

I suppose because people don’t care much about reruns, even with celebrities

I think it’s just a mix of players getting apathetic to the rerun and the fact new players are doing it. Still, 44% is surprisingly low, considering how tutorialised the mission is.

I am not surprised by the goldballer statistic, though. It’s arguably the easiest 'baller to get in the game, and the mission doesn’t exactly need it.

It may be tutorialised, but it doesn’t exclude human factor like some mistakes, engaging in a fight, using propane/sensor device in critical vicinity, or simple fun and carelessness for the outcome
