Yes, but people tend to look back on the original series with nostalgia glasses, when it really wasn’t as good as people like to claim. For the time, yes, but looking back from where we’ve arrived in modern cinema, there’s so much room for improvement, I sometimes wonder if everything just really sucked at the time. ---

Dude Peter Cushing as Tarkin gets better with time too. Bringing him back from the dead in Rogue One really helps solidify his character too. Had that movie been made without a Tarkin it just wouldn’t have made much sense. They were really swinging for the fences using him in that many scenes but I think it made the story a lot better seeing the empires internal competition between branches or divisions or whatever. ---

All true, but I’m focused mainly on the story and acting, not so much the rest, and again, it’s primarily in response to the criticisms leveled at the newer films. I’m not even saying they’re bad movies, just that they are overrated. Perhaps overrated isn’t even the correct term, but I’m not sure how to define it better at the moment. People compare the original trilogy to all the modern films in the 2000s era onward as if the flaws of the originals never existed and didn’t carry over. I’ve never been a humongous fan of Star Wars, but enough of one to have been both a critic and defender of the franchise as a whole, and as someone who was never in love with the original trilogy on the level of many in the fan base, I can say that as movies, they’re just as cringeworthy as the newer ones, if for different reasons. ---

I actually don’t mind the differences from the SE that much, most of them are really good additions to the original, especially when you compare original Bespin with the SE. The only thing i really dislike is that awful musical number in Jabbas Palace in the SE, the original Song is way better. ---

So for the second year running it’s cheaper for my wife and I to have the same insurance but separately instead of together. We both work for the same company and we use a traditional HMO. Thankfully we love our network and our doctors, this saves us a lot bc we don’t need the PPO. Our share of the monthly premium is $202 each if we go separate, but $442 if one of us insures the other. I can’t exactly figure out why. It used to be (for like the last 4 decades) the other way around with a slight savings if one of us carried the other. It’s still a good deal but it’s frustrating bc it’s double the amount of cards and paperwork etc. Vision and dental is still the way it’s always been where it’s cheaper for one of us to carry the other. ---

I’ve finally made a new animation after what seems like months since I’ve done a proper drawings/art project, after my law exams. I didn’t wanna make anything and didn’t feel any energy to do anything actually but here you go! been extremely busy with coursework and dealing with faculty who don’t do enough for students. in all, there’s barely been time to ‘pause’ and visit HMF until today. x\_x the thing that’s forced me to pause though, is illness. pretty sure my roommate lied about testing negative after leaving a party, because i have some sort of cold/fever thing now. so…gotta add getting tested now to the to-do list. honestly, i would get tested today but when i stand too long it’s like someone’s chucked an emetic grenade at me lol. i at least wish everyone here has been well and enjoying the season of wrath 🐻 💢 that new escalation is really hard. ---

Get well soon! Don’t bother to go through Level 2 and 3 of that escalation, it seems to be not worth the hassle. Skip early! 😉 * * * So my SSD died. Windows kept freezing a minute after bootup (or sooner depending on what I did). When I decided to just reinstall Windows the SSD could no longer be accessed to. So I’ll buy a new one. I thought about getting Mass Effect on PC this weekend because it is on sale. As that is no longer possible and I still have an Xbox hooked to my TV I looked up if it is on sale there too. And it was. I don’t like playing shooters on the console but I took it as a sign to just buy it to kill the time unti the SSD is shipped. 🙂 Will also mean I am a bit less active everywhere. I really wanted to make a contract with my tool to submit it for being featured. I won’t have the time for that this week but luckily I spent the previous weeks to make a good one. Lucky I guess? Still the pictures I made are on the HDD and it is much easier to access them when the PC is running again. ---

I’ve been somewhat absent from the forum for a while, mostly due to a massive amount of work and stress that more or less consumes my entire day and mental space. Quite like V1deost, I’ve got a pretty bad illness, that may or may not be covid, we’ll see what the test results say in the next few days.
