Today is Eid-e-Ghorban for Muslims. Quran states that in this very day, Ebrahim (Abraham) attempted to sacrifice Esmail (Isaac) then the angel came and gave him a sheep of some sort instead. For that, they tend to acquire a sheep and sacrifice it.
Ever since my grandfather died 5 years ago, my family stopped buying a sheep. But still we’d eat hell of more meat, and the food is variant kebabs for all 3 meals. I’m not a Muslim myself but the day is still cool for all the food.
We just had a very solid performance, my folks were there to see it, other cast members families were there, it was really tight and playful and fun! Super satisfied all around right now.
(Ah, and don’t think I mentioned it, but I am in a professional performance right now. Super lucky and grateful to my friends for coming up with something for the Fringe festival so soon out of school and letting me be a part of it)
That sounds wonderful @TheChicken. Any “hot scoops” you want to tell us about the play that you are in? What Fringe festival are you participating in, it isn’t the Edinburgh Fringe is it?
Not Edinburgh, no. The Toronto Fringe festival. Plenty of different indie projects going on around the city this week.
I’m in a play called “Birth”, it’s about a young woman coming to terms with some trauma in her life thanks to a mysterious stranger, while a council of vain celestial gods tries to track this stranger down. Themes of human connection, forgiveness, and bit of philosophy. It’s pretty wild
edit: forgot to mention! I play “Saturn”. I have an insane hoop-skirt, without the “skirt”. Just rings.
This scene from Narcos popped up in my yt feed and I have to say, this is the most badass scene ever filmed (a close contender to the scene where pablo kills Murillo)
Irritating development. My wife had interviewed for a job where they absolutely loved her, the pay would be great, and she’d get away from her toxic-as-fuck current employer where she’s over-worked, blamed for problems other departments cause, and office politics that keep anything from getting fixed. She was all ready to accept the offer and as the rumors coming down the pike indicated, they offered it to her. She’d been waiting for this and I was so ready to see her happy with the change to something better. And of course, because the world is shitty and normal people can’t have good things, the job being offered was changed at the last minute, and what she got was, to put simply, shit. So she has to reject it and stay at her current job until she finds another, and keep being miserable until then. Sad thing is, this kinda crap happens to people every single day, especially in corporate America.
And the place she applied to isn’t even a place that pulls shady stuff like that, they changed the job because they honestly thought it would be better for the person who took it because they’ve been getting bad advice based on poor past employees they’ve hired for the original job, so they tried to ease the burden on the new hire and ruined it in the process. So now my wife is so depressed and annoyed and I’m depressed and annoyed for her. If anyone’s from a culture where you are able to send good mojo another person’s way, I ask to please send some good vibes for my poor wife’s peace of mind.
I still have Corona, today is day six. I am so angry, it’s my holiday and I was so glad to finally have holiday because the last weeks of work were very stressful. And now I’m in quarantine and can’t do anything. So much about holiday
@Heisenberg I’m so sorry for your wife and you. I send you much strength and I hope that she will soon find a job that suits her and gives her a better feeling
