This week has been a bit crap for me. It’s so sodding cold in Britain right now, and I’ve had to work in the cold the last 3 nights in the snow and ice, with it reaching -6C the last 2 nights by the time I got home. Last night, our shop’s boiler broke down again. The repairman only got it to work again by 9:30pm, with the shop shutting at 11pm. Every night, me and one other driver are meant to close the shop, basically means getting the dishes done, sweeping, mopping, tiding the place up. Boiler man left such a massive mess in his wake, and it was so cold that I ended up insisting we basically just get finished as soon as possible and do the bare minimum. We left at 11:45pm, if we did everything properly we probably would of taken to near 1am, but it was freezing.
So yeah, get a text from the manager this morning saying how “bad” the shop it is, and that when I come into my shift today at 5pm I’ll be having a meeting about this. The one night I do a half assed job because it is just unbearably cold, but I guess that is not a valid excuse. Especially when I do go to the effort of doing a proper job every other night. Just makes me wonder why I bother with anything really. 3 more nights of this, although thankfully Sunday onwards is when the weather should be hot enough for all this snow and ice to melt and it won’t go below 0C during the nighttime.
