I’ve had an awful headache that I can feel in like the back of my eyes since like yesterday (much worse today tho) so I’ve just been sat in bed all day half asleep :upside_down_face:

My wife surprised me a late Valentine’s Day date. We went to see that traveling Van Gogh experience, then to dinner at Maggianos, and when we got home she had a gift for me. A watch I have been eyeing for about a year.

It’s freezing out, but I’m feeling very blessed tonight. Happy (late) Valentine’s Day  :black_heart:

I got my license in January. It sucks that I ended up being delayed 4 months because of Covid (the DMV was closed). But in the end it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter. Now I’m just waiting to age out of not being able to drive non-family members.

I’m at a pretty big crossroads in my life it feels.

At the end of last year I applied to become part of the diplomatic service of my government. It’s a boy’s dream to become a diplomat, live abroad, discover new countries by living in them, and being a cog in international relations on a level where I can hear and find out about interestinghigh-level negotiations. I just enrolled respecting that boy’s dream, not really thinknig I’d get very far.

Today I’m among the last 20 candidates, for what will be a reserve list of a growing diplomatic corps. So I’m finding myself to start and seriously consider this new kind of life.

However, despite all signs to the contrary here, I’m not really a boy anymore. This kind of adventure is very impactful, not in the least on my girlfriend, but also for my parents who see their only child move further away. Starting over every five years can be exciting, but it can also be enormously frustrating and difficult to establish meaningful relationships. At the same time I’m very happy in my current job, which also has some international aspects, though I imagine they’ll become less prevalent post-covid.

I’m not at the end of the selection process yet, so maybe I won’t have the choice in the end, but I need to start preparing for it anyway. Parents and girlfriend seem on boar dwith the idea, though they’re not ecstatic about it either. As for me? I have no clue yet. Two weeks from now I’ll find out if I can go to the last stage. I think I’ll start having sleepless nights around that point.

That’s amazing! And getting that far in the process has to be a nice compliment on your skills and abilities, if nothing else.

Sounds like a great name for a DnD character

But seriously, congrats. Seems like an amazing life opportunity! Hope you get it, and if you do then you get a good country to go to :green_heart:

The way I understand it, we can give preferences of countries we would be stationed at, but the choice is in part out of our hands. The ministry is not a travel bureau either. I’m pretty open-minded about where I’d be sent to. But here, too, my partner’s opinion needs to be taken into account of course.

I’m near the end with my second play through. Finding hard to play as male Eivor, female Eivor’s voice just sounds way more badass.

Hey guys. I’m back.
