So last night our family dog passed away. Ponyo. She was 13, so was basically near the end of her life, but still, it was all so sudden… We expected more of a sign, or gradual decline, but… that was not to be.

It’s… gonna be weird, and sad for a while I’m sure. I’m mostly afraid of how this might affect me today, this week, next month, etc. Not sure if I should inform my manager at work about this just in case, but that probably seems wise?

I think it still hasn’t fully hit me yet because I’m still in shock about the whole thing. It all just unfolded so fast.
She was perfectly fine yesterday morning. By sheer coincidence, my sister is back in town this week to visit a friend/loiter around the Taylor Swift venue if she can get a ticket. So she was happy to see her, and the whole family was here to comfort her in her final moments…

But, around dinner time yesterday, after she’d been taken for a walk, she stayed outside to lie down as usual. When we brought her in after like 30-40 mins, she’d refused to stand up or walk to the door on her own. She sat down, and immediately collapsed into a lying down position. Lots of heavy breathing, and occasional grunt or moan, and this ā€œheavingā€ motion in her belly.
We finally decided after an hour of just waiting to see if this ā€˜weak/sickness’ got any better ā€œokay, we need to know if we can make her more comfortable, and what this isā€ and took her to the vet…
They informed us that she had significant internal bleeding in her abdomen! Probably from some sort of rupture or lesion, maybe from some cancerous growth somewhere, that just decided to rip open? (she’s had some weird lumps and bumps pop up in the last 2 years, but we’ve never noticed her seem to complain or be irritated by it)
ugh… why did it have to go this way…

So we, uh had to all make the call that yes, she should be euthanised, since any work that could be done for her, probably wouldn’t make the rest of her life any easier…
We gave her so many cuddles. She was so soft… She was such a nice dog. Loved any stranger she could meet (would be a terrible guard dog) – and she even met my D&D group on Monday when I hosted, which was nice!

This is just… such a weird feeling in my body right now. I woke up 30 mins ago, haven’t gone downstairs to have breakfast yet. But that’ll be weird. And when I return from work, she’s always happy to see who’s at the door… not anymore…
Thankfully today is a day off for me, so I can rest and sit with this… Still, she was the best dog, she always deserved the best…

I’ve had to put several pets down and lost a few naturally too. It never gets easy.

My condolences. I’ve learned in the past few years how hard this is, and it’s one of the few tragedies that I wish on absolutely no one.

Red Cup Day today at starbucks. Meaning everyone who gets a holiday drink gets a free reusable plastic cup. (They never use it and come back with it for a drink discount anyway uugh) And people loooove free stuff so today is usually like the busiest day of the year.

I only worked half of my 8 hour shift today.
Cried at work once, needed to a 2nd time later, but my eyes were too dry.
It was crazy busy, very overwhelming atmosphere with so many people there, all the sounds, and me trying to keep track of my tasks while also thinking a lot about Ponyo and how much she meant to people.

I feel guilty for leaving the team in the middle of the school lunch rush, but my manager was very accomodating and wanted to know what I thought is the best move for me. So, I chose "I can stay till X, but I’m just not feeling confident enough to make it through today: .

I’ve had periods of being mentally overwhelmed where it’s hard not to break down at work. I know what it’s like as I get easily overwhelmed if a lot is happening around me at once also. Especially when you’re dealing with a lot outside of work it makes it even worse. Best you can do in that situation is get to a place to calm down. If you try to push through it you’ll probably just make yourself feel worse by the end of it. Do something that helps you relax from reading, a tv show, video game, or get support from family and friends. Sometimes having a quiet time of doing nothing can be relaxing.

My family returned from a trip in Sweden visiting relatives. They brought back home some stuff for me.

I’m personally looking forward to snacking on the candy. I loved the candy my family gave me from Sweden last Christmas.

Hey I saw that when I was on there yesterday.

Today felt somewhat scattered for a few reasons. However, it did lead to me being 90% done with my latest cartoon… :pencil2:

I also got Just Dance to work on my Xbox with Ubisoft’s stupid game controller app. This is after having not played it in 2 years since their Kinect support ended. It was totally awesome to play it again and made all my stress temporarily melt away :slightly_smiling_face::blue_heart:

I hope your day had a nice element to it as well, my friends

I have an unexpected free day and the house all to myself. I turned on Hitman for the first time in along while and I had forgotten how good the post Sapienza cut scene is. Really get you interested in who Grey is and pulls you deeper into the story / l remember it left me wanting to know more immediately which was impossible bc of the episodic release.

Sadly the post Paris cutscene won’t play in offline mode.

Sorry for the double post but then it’s followed up by the first time you see the Constant! Highly recommend anyone who hasn’t seen the cutscenes in a while at least go do that*. I’m gonna go full playthrough now I’m so excited.

*remember you have to actually beat the Maldives and NY to see their cutscenes

Haven’t been visiting here for a while. The studying part is going smoothly and the assigned professors and TAs are excellent. Social life is complicated as always. Far too many people to deal with doesn’t make it any better.

I’m already working part time, remotely teaching mathematics to highschoolers. I need to extend that as family is being quite unsupportive.

In other news, I might be having my first girlfriend (both sides being bit unsure) and it’s a pretty different deal with many aspects to figure out for the first time.

Well as an early Christmas present my cousin gifted me his old gaming PC! This marks the first time I’ve had a computer with a dedicated GPU (GTX 1060 6GB), no more Intel HD Graphics for me! It feels very weird going from a computer that I wouldn’t dare try running Hitman on to one that can run it smoothly at 1080p!

I technically have the World of Assassination Part One on Epic, but the store doesn’t consider it something I bought. When they gave Hitman 2016 away free several years back I claimed the access pass for Hitman 3 too. I will probably get the whole WoA Deluxe Edition sometime cause I want to try out Peacock, but even though it’s on sale right now $45 seems like a lot for a game I already own and have 1309 hours in.

But of course the coolest thing about having it on PC is I have access to Ansel and can take lovely screenshots like this:
