Well, two out of three - I’m not always truthful.
I did a karate exam today to see if I made it to the yellow belt. Being the amazing that I am, I got my yellow belt today! It’s only the second belt, but nevertheless a big achievement. ![]()

Cowabunga, Dude!
I don’t have any tattoos and honestly I have more in common with Aron Ford Jr (though I still have all my hair). Maybe I need to take up birdwatching and just hope I don’t start to morph into Ken “The Brick” Morgan
Came to the conclusion it’s time to retire my 2005 Subaru Outback. Particularly for a plethora of reasons but at the end of the of the day it boils down to peace of mind.
Starting Friday I’ll be going through the process of saving a majority of my next ten paychecks. This in turn should mean by the time late November Rolls around I should have a sizable down payment.
I could go on about how this wasn’t an easy thing to land on, but the writing was on the wall for awhile now especially as I gear towards moving within the next year. I simply need something newer and more reliable when I factor in 30 Min commutes to work.
The old girl has been through it this year between exhaust disconnecting from its Cal Converter, and just getting hit by a drunk driver and I simply just can’t justify investing into the vehicle when I plan on getting rid of it soon anyway. Just gonna ride her out til the inspection sticker gets close to expiring and then sell it for scrap.
So I’m just gonna fast track the process to this year. Meaning for the next few months I’ll be living a very disciplined lifestyle. Only eating at home, spending less on luxuries and focusing more on long term investments for the betterment of myself, and on the gaming side tackle my backlog instead of getting the new and hot thing at a $70 premium.
Just went 24 hours without smoking or drinking for the first time in three years. Feels pretty good, I actually woke up without stumbling or having to drag myself out of bed.
Very well done
a full 24 hours is so hard to do but it shows yourself what is possible. That you can manage without it. There will be relapses, caving to moments of temptation, but that’s okay. It’s not weakness to have some bumps along the road, when the reward for success is so great.
It’s very difficult, but very admirable, having to put short-term pleasures on hold for the long-term plan. Like smoking and drinking, it’s hard to say no when you want to treat yourself, especially when you’ve been working so hard. Ignore the fomo and push through, the luxuries will still be there when it’s time to enjoy them. And they’ll taste all the sweeter for it, knowing you’re enjoying them from a stable place ![]()
So far so good. I’m really irritable today but I have horror films and a fresh KCD1 playthrough to keep me busy and distracted until I pass out later. 37 hours and going.
I’d be playing WOA right now but my laptop randomly disconnects from wifi constantly.
Download a sobriety app. Maybe the tracking will help you in tough moments. You got this.
Will do, thanks.
Shot some drone footage over the Ottawa River this afternoon. Video quality is kind of low but I’m working on finding a solution to that.
Beautiful mate. It kind of looks like a crime thriller intro with that music.
Thank you, I’m happy to hear you say that. The musical selection isn’t as popular on reddit lol
Had my Toyota
's brakes, callipers, and some other stuff worked on. They got it done the same day, but I couldn’t get a ride up to the shop. So… I made the effort to walk up there, and did so along the train tracks. I don’t know the exact distance but it did take around 2 hours.
First off, my knees are killing me! Have to put some ice packs on 'em and use some of those pain pills I had left over from when I broke a bone in my foot last year.
And I have never, in my life, seen more dead turtles than I did in that 2-hour walk.
I can only assume that they get in between the tracks and have no way of climbing out. So they go and go and go… Probably die of thirst or hunger.
I just stood in line for 25 min so this person could save $3.32 cents on her “all fucked up” grocery bill. That was her wording, not mine. The bill was over $800 and she was sure the “fucking uneducated, lazy, fat, [racial slur] who can’t speak English cashier” was intentionally screwing her over by double ringing “everything.”
I felt so bad for the cashier, who could hear her, the manager who had to go over every single charge with her, everyone else in line, myself. Pretty much every person who has ever met this woman, I feel bad for them. I gotta give the manager a ton of credit though bc when it was all over he made sure the woman knew nothing was double rang it was just a sale item that didn’t calculate correctly. He then added if it was a mom and pop he would have fully refunded her and asked her to never come back and not let her take the groceries, but since it’s a corporation he had to go over the bill with her, and now he can tell her never to come back so “the police will be called if you ever come in here again.”
Everyone clapped and I offered to buy everyone in line behind me a drink at their little tasting bar. I’m working on getting the manager and cashier to have a shot with us too.
I’m not what you’d call a “handyman” type, but after almost five years my wife finally decided to order a new garbage disposal for our sink and this afternoon I installed it entirely on my own, with the only setbacks being that I needed to go to a hardware store to get some plumber’s putty partway through, and that one of the wires for the power source came undone before I tried turning it on, so I had to rewire it, about a 20 minute delay. Other than that, works just fine. Not bad for a guy who doesn’t work with his hands, and an appliance as problematic as a garbage disposal.
Having replaced a handful of those in my life, I can say, with some expertise, good job! Currently I’m gutting and renovating a small travel trailer. Someday I hope to post the results here!
Dude you’re officially more handy than I am. Mine needed replacing a few years back. I went to home depot and the guy told me normal ones are 1/2 or 3/4 HP. I saw a 1.5 and did the Tim Allen tool man laugh as I chose that one. Of course I needed building engineering to put it in for me, but it ROARS!
Hats off to ya for doing it yourself though. It’s the only way to learn!
After I begun playing Warhammer 40.0000 Space Marine 2, I decided to dip my toe into 40k lore.
Well knowing how massive it is, it might have been a mistake I will come to regret. It also awoke my long dormant love for painting Warhammer figures.
