I’m not what you’d call a “handyman” type, but after almost five years my wife finally decided to order a new garbage disposal for our sink and this afternoon I installed it entirely on my own, with the only setbacks being that I needed to go to a hardware store to get some plumber’s putty partway through, and that one of the wires for the power source came undone before I tried turning it on, so I had to rewire it, about a 20 minute delay. Other than that, works just fine. Not bad for a guy who doesn’t work with his hands, and an appliance as problematic as a garbage disposal.
Having replaced a handful of those in my life, I can say, with some expertise, good job! Currently I’m gutting and renovating a small travel trailer. Someday I hope to post the results here!
Dude you’re officially more handy than I am. Mine needed replacing a few years back. I went to home depot and the guy told me normal ones are 1/2 or 3/4 HP. I saw a 1.5 and did the Tim Allen tool man laugh as I chose that one. Of course I needed building engineering to put it in for me, but it ROARS!
Hats off to ya for doing it yourself though. It’s the only way to learn!
After I begun playing Warhammer 40.0000 Space Marine 2, I decided to dip my toe into 40k lore.
Well knowing how massive it is, it might have been a mistake I will come to regret. It also awoke my long dormant love for painting Warhammer figures.
I also recently read into it out of interest, Found some “lore for beginners” video of like 30mins. ![]()
So far I understand that a lot of you are heretics.
Death to the false Emperor.
I’ve been playing 40K for 2 and a half years and I still barely know half the lore, and the stuff I do know is mainly through memes. You should join The Greater Good!
I got to meet Chewbacca today. Him, a Jedi, and some Stormtroopers were wandering around collecting charity donations at the shopping centre, where me and dad saw Superman.
I’m pretty sure I know you don’t have long hair as you’ve never mentioned it before, but that black circle makes it easy to think the long flowing locks of hair are in fact yours and not chewbacca’s mighty mane of fur.
Also the jedi is squinting, practically eyes shut! Must’ve been a sunny day!
(I know the feeling all too well, I have sensitive eyes too, I’ve taken many a picture in my life where we’re facing the sun, and it’s a miracle the ones where my eyes don’t go blind keeping them open) ![]()
Oh Gods, please no Tau ![]()
I wanna add to something since Charity is involved.
So typically when it comes to online shopping especially physical media i check just about everywhere. So recently Fallout Season 1 was released on 4K Steelbook and it’s currently being sold for on average $74ish bucks.
Well I found a person on eBay who is selling them slightly above retail (like $5 more) to raise money for animal shelters and specifically cause of kitten season and feeding strays.
I thought this was a really neat listing and I ended up getting one because of the context, to say the person cares is an understatement cause they went above and beyond with the packaging down to making sure the steelbook wasn’t damaged or dented. So I’m glad this person got my money and that it’s going to a good cause too cause I rarely see that when EBay is largely for profit.
Ha, it’s what I play in 40K, also started a small World Eaters army if that’s any better.
Ha! Oh I wish. I shave my head nowadays, my hair has thinned out on the top and my hair has gone gray at the temples.
I know, i understood that from the “greater good” reference ![]()
When i actively played Warhammer, Tau just came out. I think the early 2000s where the best time, model design wise.
Back then you could just play “Chaos Space Marines” and have a squad of Khorne Berserkers and a Squad of Plague Marines in your army, instead of the Legions being basically their own distinctive armies.
Second - fourth edition it was, iirc.
This Chaos Lord mini from the early 2000s is my absolute favorite model of all time, what a badass
Look at those models, much simpler design but it looked so much better than the new ones, where you basically have hours of armor trim painting lol
Yeah but that can be groovy because when you’re bald, you’re more timeless because there isn’t hair color to tell someone how old you are. You can be 40 for about thirty years and nobody notices until the eyebrows go white!
Tau will turn 25 years old next year. It’s amazing though, there are older Warhammer fans out there who still insist that the Tau are “out of place” in the Warhammer universe and act like they just came out.
Yeah, amazing how times have changed. The God Legions being their own thing have been a real mixed bag. Some amazing models to come out as they get a fresh focus, the Emporer’s Children range is gorgeous. But it also means that EC players who would of original played Chaos Space Marines end up losing a lot of models and options in their army. It doesn’t help that I think everyone was hoping GW would perhaps fold the relevant Chaos Daemons in with their respective Legion, but that didn’t happen, and it’s still very limited.
Yeah, the “Chaos trim” is pretty infamous at this point, Thousand Sons having it the absolute worst. I do enjoy alot of the older GW models. A few guys at my club have been in the hobby since 2nd edition, and own some of the older models. I know a guy whose Ork army is half metal. Some of it still holds up very well.
But I do think the modern models are also good. There are some misfires, the Blood Angels new models they got recently looked pretty rubbish. Then, I’m bias because I think the Worlds Eaters stuff they got when they became an army in 9th edition is gorgeous, Angron is a fantastic centerpiece model, and the Tau have gotten a bunch of great refreshes with Farsight, Kroot, and Vespid Stingwings.
It’s a mixed bag, Games Workshop are just a rather scummy company who overcharge on everything. But I do think they make great models (arguably their fantasy stuff is them at their best, the new Grand Cathay army they’ve made for The Old World is gorgeous.) Helps that I’ve got a great club to go to play these games with.
