After almost 6 years of using the linux_penguin name, I have for the first time installed Linux (Mint) onto the family computer, since it was not eligible to upgrade to Windows 11. It may have been the most thrilling thing I’ve done this year and I’m also considering getting Pop_Os onto my laptop at some point in the future.
Still, won’t forget every time someone has made a Linux joke (most memorably when @Urben did years ago on a Mungadungalis stream) understandably expecting me to understand or when more veteran Linux users has cheerily asked what distro I use only for me to have to grimace and bow my head in disgrace.
All in all, would recommend Linux to anyone stuck with Windows 10, safer than keeping an unsupported version after all

Windows 10 still has security updates, and is still supported (Literally been putting off updates for three weeks now).
At least the name matches the OS now. Good choice of distro btw, Mint is very noob-friendly, and very good for most situations. I stuck with it for a decade until 2024 when…well, I stopped using Linux.

I’m confused. You have been a fraud all along and now you’re rectifying it all, or you have always had Linux on your own personal machine but now you can share it with your familia and you’re just celebrating with us?

First of all, congratulations on your journey of self discovery. I am genuinely happy to hear that you managed to push through the difficulty of that hardship despite the environment that you were dealt with.
I don’t think you know me, and truth be told I doubt most people here remember much of me. My last post was on May 13 2022 while you joined around 2023 (I think? :P).
Even though I mostly stayed silent here, I was still regularly visiting and liking posts here in the forum. Throughout that time, I really enjoyed seeing your posts the most out of almost all of the members here (Not throwing any shade to anyone here tho, you guys are awesome :D). You seem like a very nice person with a lot of similar interests with me. Every new post on the Games news thread was basically an almost 1 to 1 reflection of the things I really liked :3
Then I saw this post. You came out of the closet.
During my long hiatus from posting in the forum, I’ve had a lot of life changing things that happened and had a lot of self reflection. While I’m still not sure where I fall in the spectrum, I can confidently say that I’m not the traditional idea of a man, and I don’t want to fit into that box for the rest of my life. I also want to be more feminine with the way I express myself. I don’t like the fact that I was born AMAB, I wish I was born a girl, though even then I don’t think I’d fit neatly into any of these boxes 
That also meant that I didn’t exactly fit with the name @William1066. I don’t want to be known like that anymore. I’ll be honest, I have definitely been planning to let go of William, and a large part as to why I haven’t been posting here with this account was because I realised I’m not William.
Your post has given me the courage and motivation to finally post again. I’m not sure why myself, but I’ll take this opportunity while I still can.
So after all that, I should probably properly introduce myself.

Today’s been weird. Okay but weird.
I had my very first school-stress-dream last night even though I-finished-school-3-years ago.
It was about me needing to turn in this 25 page essay I was supposed to be working on for the last 3 years, I just forgot about it. And all my friends who I called were like “yeah it was told to us on our last day”
Also I had to turn it in physically and I forgot how to GET to school for the deadline. Man. Weird.
At the end I had some telekinesis battle with some government who was chasing me IDK how it turned into that. Lmao
Work has been okay. Steady, not too busy. Excited to get home and chill (and have a day off tomorrow yippee)
And I just found out a kind-of local movie theatre is closing in a week. (The landlord of it wants to change the business operating there.) Damn. That sucks…
There is at least 1 other nearby, but… awww…

Hah I have one of those one or twice a year. Even though I am back at uni even my mind knows that is just a teeny bit wrong.
Neither do I, I thnk the last time I had a school dream I remembered the ending to I was waiting for my dad to pick my up. Like in the old days where he would pick me up from the oval and sometimes I had to hope the fence because the custodians didn’t unlock the fence that day.
In other news the fucking power company downed the power to my street the whole day nearly.
