So I’m a passive fan of youtuber Joshua Weissman, I like his videos. I’ve always thought they were fun and he made good looking things. I even made one of his hot chocolate recipes last winter, and posted the results here. It was good but his base portions left a product that was way too rich, it was much better after being diluted with more milk afterwards. But anyways.
I’ve heard controversies about him for years but I only half read into them and didn’t care much because I just treat his channel as kind of dumb fun that I don’t have much of personal stake in. However, I am in the middle of reading this relatively recent article written about him, The Shameless Impropriety of Joshua Weissman, and I must say he sounds like kind of a piece of shit lol. He regularly abuses his staff in multiple forms, doesn’t pay overtime, and doesn’t even seem to do much actual cooking on his cooking channel. One particularly troubling incident happened when he tried to force his employees to move a table that was too heavy upstairs, and when they refused he threw a violent tantrum (which seems to be normal in his workplace). This led to them writing a formal letter demanding better workplace conditions.
Again, I say all of this as someone who admittedly still likes his channels and liked the person himself until a couple hours ago. But I must say he sounds pretty awful to work with. There’s a story in the article that details how, during an ice-cream making segment in a 2023 video, he became so enraged that he started punching a block of ice unil his hands bled. There’s actually evidence in the video corroborating the story. And this is the kind of thing that he would subject his employees to regularly.
Rather than what’s new, here’s what’s old: today, Teen Titans: Trouble In Tokyo turned 20. It is officially an old movie. Hard for me to believe, because it seems like still such a short time ago that I was so excited for it. Two days after it came out, my wife and I, who only knew each other through a forum like this one that was dedicated to the Teen Titans cartoon, decided to start a long-distance romantic relationship. The discussion that led to that decision came about because of the discussions that were being had around this movie on that forum. And those of you who’ve done the math, our 20 year anniversary for the start of our relationship is in two days.
I broke my ring toe last night, while moving a spare mattress into the bedroom for the spawn to sleep on. I stubbed my toe on the door on my way out.
It hurts, but no point in seeing a doctor. They can’t do anything other than taking an X-ray and tell me it’s broken.
So been walking around all day and now working out, a bit of deadlifting and such. My mother in law reminded me to take something for the pain. Honestly I didn’t even consider that as an option.
You went to the Celine Dion show??? That’s nuts man. You are living your best life. I listen to music very very different from Celine Dion but she’s still a legend and an artiste and she’s been through a lot and she came back and she’s a boss.
She was also groomed as a child if anyone is interested in learning about that. I mean look I grew up in France in the 90s but I still know right from wrong.
Dude she sounded so good! Wonderful show. I’m so happy she can perform again. We are super fortunate to be able to have attended the show.
As for her husband… you’re saying René Angelil wasn’t a stand up guy? I think everyone sorta know he wasn’t. It’s just not normal to turn 26 and marry the person who’s been managing you since you were like 12 and is 30 years older than you are.
NEON accidentally leaked the Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie box set on their own website. It’s taken down now but didn’t stop people from taking screenshots while it was up!
Hell yesssss the series+movie box set is REALLL
