Who Spit the Lyrics? (Forum Game)

#101

Well since I have yet to receive my coins (and no one has gone next) I’ll be taking my turn back!

You tell me that there’s love here
But to me it’s blatant
Nothin’ but all the blood here
I’m dealin’ with Satan
Plus with all the hate
It’s hard to keep peace (Uh huh)
Thou shall not steal,
But I will to eat
I tried doin’ good, but
Good’s not too good for me
Misunderstood,
Why you chose the hood for me
Mean I’m aight,
I just had to work hard at it
Went to grandma for the answer,
She told me that God had it
So now here I am,
Confused and full of questions
Am I born to lose
Or is this just a lesson
And who it’s goin’ choose
When it gets turned around
And will it be
Layin’ in my own blood
And on the ground

My child,
I watched you grow up
And I’ve been there (Uh huh)
Even at those times
You least suspected it I was there
And look at what I’ve given you
A talent to rhyme
I may not come when you call,
But I’m always on time

Somebody’s knockin’
Should I let ‘em in
Lord we’re just startin’,
But where will it end
Somebody’s knockin’
Should I let ‘em in
Lord we’re just startin’,
But where will it end

But when the funds are low
The guns will blow
Lookin’ for that one that owe,
Make 'em run that dough

No!
Put down the guns and write a new rhyme
You’ll get it all in due time
You’ll do fine
Just have faith
‘Cause you mine (Uh huh)
And when you shine
It’s gon’ be a sight to behold.
So don’t fight to be old,
Or lose sight when it’s cold
See that light down the road,
It’s goin’ guide you there
Two sets of footsteps,
I was right beside you there

But what about them times
I only saw one
Those were the times that I was under the gun,

It was then I carried you my son
Led you to safety
It just wasn’t your time to face me (Uh huh)

Ah-yo a few of them times I thought you would erase me
But all you did was embrace me
Prepared me for the worst
Offered me eternal light,
And scared me with the hearse
And the curse
Turned to grace
When the hurt, turned to faith
No more runnin’, (Uh huh)
Slidin’ in the dirt
'Cause I’m safe

Somebody’s knockin’
Should I let ‘em in
Lord we’re just startin,
But where will it end
Somebody’s knockin’
Should I let ‘em in
So if I’m yo’ man

I’m in yo’ hands
What’s yo’ plan?
Never had a friend
‘Cause you couldn’t trust your man
Learned to stand before I crawled
Things were twisted!
And if you showed me anything at all
Then I missed it
Looked the wrong way (Uh huh)
I’ve done some wrong things (True)
Kept a bad attitude,
But that’s what wrong brings
And now you mean to tell me that
After all this time,
It was you that kept the dog from goin’ out of his mind.
It was you that breathed life
Into my lungs when I was born
And it was you that let me know
What was right,
From what was wrong
And it was you that let me do
What I knew what could be done
And it was you that gave me a good wife
And a beautiful son
And it’s been you speakin’ to me
Inside my mind
And it’s been you who has forgiven
Time after time
It was you who opened my eyes
So I could see
It was you who shined yo’
Light on me

First clue: Despite the lyrics this is actually a rap song.

Sorry i couldn’t deliver in time, song i was thinking lyrics are nowhere to be found, besides it would probably be too easy so, glad you stepped in @Nazareth. :+1:

#103

This one might be tough so here’s another clue - This rapper is constantly going in and out of jail.

DMX from IDAHIH… can’t think of the exact title off the top of my head, The convo? But it’s the one with the Bee Gees instrumental anyway.

Clue: “Hey Kate, look at all this lovely scag! Nom nom nom nom!”

"Is it cruel or kind
Not to speak my mind
And to lie to you
Rather than hurt you

Well I’ll confess all of my sins
After several large gins
But still I’ll hide from you,
Hide what’s inside from you

And alarm bells ring.
When you say your heart still sings.
When you’re with me,
Oh won’t you please forgive me!"

#105

Correct on both counts! It is the Convo by DMX. Thought iI picked one a little too hard for a moment there. :slightly_smiling_face:

#106

2nd clue since this one might be quite tough, especially to those outside the UK…

This is a British band, who mostly found success in the early '00s -they split up in 2004… the usual “band split culprits” (drug addiction & artistic differences) but reunited for their 3rd album in 2015.

Based on the info I dug around and I believe they’re The Libertines. I’ll post something in a bit.

#108

I having a bit of trouble deciding on something so if someone wants next, they can have it.

#109

I’ll post then. The last line which is a refrain that repeats throughout the song is omitted as it gives away the name.

Verse:

Here he comes, he’s all dressed in black
PR shoes and a big straw hat
He’s never early, he’s always late
First thing you learn is you always gotta wait

Great song, I know who it is… but I haven’t got anything ready plus I think it’ll be good to give someone else a chance to answer.

The Velvet Underground I believe.

Here’s a joint I first heard on Watch Dogs 2 and instantly liked it.

We’re sorry
But you’re no longer needed
Or wanted
Or even cared about here
Machines can do a better job than you
This is what you get for asking questions
The unions agree
‘Sacrifices must be made’
Computers never go on strike
To save the working man you’ve got to put him out to pasture
Looks like we’ll have to let you go
Doesn’t it feel fulfilling to know
That you-the human being-are now obsolete
And there’s nothing in hell we’ll let you do about it

Soup is good food-(We don’t need you any more)
You made a good meal-(We don’t need you any more)
Now how do you feel-(We don’t need you any more)

To be shit out our ass
And thrown in the cold like a piece of trash
We’re sorry
You’ll just have to leave
Unemployment runs out after just six weeks
How does it feel to be a budget cut?
You’re snipped
You no longer exist
Your number’s been purged from our central computer
So we can rig the facts
And sweep you under the rug
See our chart? Unemployment’s going down
If that ruins your life that’s your problem

We’re sorry
We hate to interrupt
But it’s against the law to jump off this bridge
You’ll just have to kill yourself somewhere else
A tourist might see you
And we wouldn’t want that
I’m just doing my job, you know
So say uncle
And we’ll take you to the mental health zoo
Force feed you mind-melting chemicals
Til even the outside world looks great
In hi-tech science research labs
It costs too much to bury all the dead
The mutilated disease-injected
Surplus rats who can’t be used anymore
So they’re dumped (with no minister present)
In a spiraling corkscrew dispose-all unit
Ground into sludge and flushed away
Aw geez

Looks like some hints are needed. No worries.

This band was one of the first American hardcore bands to make a significant impact in the United Kingdom. Based in San Francisco, their lyrics were usually political in nature.

#113

Last clue - They have a total of four albums together and is named after a former U.S. President.

#114

Dead Kennedys - soup is good food…it’s an old classic strange nobody knows it.

TAKE MY TURN!

#115

I thought I picked one that was too hard for moment.

#116

I got one I don’t think anyone will get…ok here it is…who gave us this emotional classic?

Poopy-di scoop
Scoop-diddy-whoop
Whoop-di-scoop-di-poop
Poop-di-scoopty
Scoopty-whoop
Whoopity-scoop, whoop-poop
Poop-diddy, whoop-scoop
Poop, poop
Scoop-diddy-whoop
Whoop-diddy-scoop
Whoop-diddy-scoop, poop
