Who Spit the Lyrics? (Forum Game)

I hope I’m not ruining the mood by not posting a rap song

don’t know if this is too easy or too hard

“These days I sit on corner stones
And count the time in quarter tones to ten, my friend
Don’t confront me with my failures
I had not forgotten them”

The thread is for any music genre, not just rap.

Probably too difficult. For me, at the very least

Hint-This singer had one of his songs appear in Taxi Driver

It’s “These days” by Jackson Browne

You should post another one or give someone else the right to post

I’ll pass

I’ll post then. Hope you don’t mind.

Nothing on the top but a bucket and a mop
And an illustrated book about birds
You see a lot up there but don’t be scared
Who needs action when you got words

Seems like a hint is needed. It would be that this is an american band formed by two brothers in eighties

I think it’s Nirvana, right?

Not really. Nirvana once covered a couple of their songs though

I was waiting to see what version you wanted… Meat Puppets original (Plateau) :+1:

I’ll do a quick easy one… anyone who doesn’t know this is getting their hip-hop card revoked!

“Don’t make me wreck shit, hectic, next to the chair got me going like general electric
The lights are blinking I’m thinking it’s all over when go out drinking
Making my mind slow, that’s why I don’t fuck with the big 4-0… Bro,
I got to maintain”…

Insane in the Brain! Man that album was everywhere I went at university, classic Cypress Hill.
While we’re talking classics;
‘…motherfucker and you can’t turn the shit off
Catch you in the streets and your ass’ll get tossed
Bang! Bang! Bang! Cause it ain’t no thang
To put in work and watch your body jerk’.

Ice-T with the track Its On. Here’s an easy one.

up in the place, true indeed
Yes I catch wreck and that’s word on my seed
I’m guaranteed to give you what you need
One blood everybody like Junior Reid
Wake up every morning yo I must succeed
Nationwide ruckus make the world stampede
Yo Willie mek we roll some weed
Mad charged nigga now I must proceed
Yo we 'bout to make moves, set speed
Peace to Baby Phife, Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed
Watch me knock you out like Apollo Creed
Body blows busting your shit making you bleed
Just feed off dynamic flows and take heed
Need more information homeboy then just read
Ay! You can read all about the pure breed
Do the bogle dance, man, do the pepperseed

How dare you ever try to step on my suede shoes
Top Gun shut down your firm like Tom Cruise
Please let me get down and blow a fuse
Acting fools breaking shit down to molecules
Yo let me hit you with my ill street blues
(beep) always headlines the street news
Woo-Hah! Hey baby girl don’t be confused
Sail my seven seas and enjoy my boat cruise
I know you really want to know who’s
Coming through leaving blunt stains and residues
Sorry homeboy but your flow sound used
Got to pay your dues baby you know the rules
Whenever I travel the world I landcruise
If you choose to fuck around you get bruised
Now I got you gassed on super unleaded fuels
Give me room, give me some space yo excuse

First hint: He use to were dreadlocks for many years.

Busta Rhymes - Woo-ahh; Got you all

This one is going to be very easy, because it’s on the radio all the fuckin’ time, or very hard if you don’t like this ‘‘style’’ of music, which I also don’t but this one I actually enjoy.

‘‘Got the club going up, on a Tuesday.’’
‘‘Got your girl in the cut and she ain’t choosey’’
‘‘Club going up, on Tuesday’’
‘‘Got your girl in the club and she ain’t choosey’’
‘‘Club going up’’

(Rinse and repeat those lyrics for the whole 3 fucking minutes)

I actually haven’t listen to the radio much, rather just put on the music I like, but I’ll take guess and say…Drake?

Hint: It was cleaarly inspired by Drake, but instead of that being only the rhytm that Drake uses (which is also the part of the text), the singer actually sings Drake’s main rhytm/sentence for the whole fucking song, which though it makes it tedious, the singer has a beautiful voice, & I actually really prefer thiis one over Drake’s original because of the voice and the melody, and I’ll take it anytime of day

Hint 2: The remix/song creator is the is one of the most popular DJ’s in Turkey.

Hint 3: The singer (not the DJ), actually did a cover of the original song on youtube, and then made a version of it, just with repeating the rhytm, after that she and the turkish DJ have collaborated with the rhytm.

Hint 4: The song surpassed drake’s in views and sales (ironically)

(So you are literally on the right track with the song name & wording, just the singers are different)

No need for all the hints, the first was enough  - It’s Burak Yeter featuring Danelle Sandoval singing Tuesday. Not a fan of the song by the way. :slightly_smiling_face: I’ll post something in a moment.

First hint: Old song that came out in the 1950’s. Sadly this artist died at the age of 33 on December 11, 1964.

I was born by a river, oh my
In this little old tent
Oh, just like this river
I’ve been running ever since
It’s been alone
Lord, I’m coming but I know, but I know
A change is gotta come, now
Yes, it is, my oh, my oh, my oh

It’s been too hard livin’, oh my
And I’m afraid to die
I don’t know what’s up there
Beyond the clouds
It’s been alone
Lord, I’m coming but I know, but I know

A change is gotta come
Oh, yes it is, my oh, my oh, my
There’s a time
I will go to my brother, oh my
I’ve asked my brother
Will you help me please, oh now, oh now
He turned me down

And then I asked my little mother, oh my
I said mother, I said mother
I’m down on my knees
It’s been time that I go
Lord, it’s too late, very long, oh now, oh
Somehow I thought I was still able
To try to carry on
It’s been alone

Lord, but I’m coming that I’ve know
A change is gonna come
Oh, yes, it is
Just like I said
I went to my little bitty brother, oh my, my little brother
I asked my brother
Brother, help me please, oh now
He turned me down
And then I go to my little mother
My dear mother, oh now
I said, ?Mother?, I said, ?Mother, I’m down on my knees?
But there was a time that I go
Lord, it’s too late, so very long, oh, my oh
Somehow I thought I was still able
To try to carry on
It’s been alone

Lord, I’m coming but I know, but I know
A change is gotta come
It’s been so long, it’s been so long
A little too long
But change is gotta come
So tired, so tired of suffering
Standing by myself
And standing up alone
But a change is gonna come
You know, I know
You know that
I know and I know
And you know
A change is gonna come

I only know Leadbelly from that age :frowning:
