Transformers aren’t here because this is specifically human-piloted/controlled robots. Gundam is included because technically other mobile suits count as monsters in this context.
Voltron, Gundam, and the Zords don’t make it for me because, while they’re successful, their opponents are really a bunch of ridiculously-looking, ineffective little bitches.
Despite its power and how huge of a Godzilla fan I am, Mechagodzilla doesn’t make it because it has never succeeded, in any continuity, in killing even one monster. It’s always almost killed Godzilla and some others, always an extremely close almost, but “almost killed” means didn’t kill, so no. Abject failure.
That leaves it between the Jaegers and the Megadeus, which is a tough one. I wanted to go with Megadeus because it only requires a single pilot and he’s a badass on his own without even being a soldier. But, compared to the Jaegers, it’s pretty slow and clunky, relying on its firepower and raw strength without having speed and relative agility in its favor.
So I went with the Jaegers, whose opponents are fearsome enough that they actually pose a threat for each fight, rather than being curb-stomped by the swish of a single magic sword in the first five seconds like with the Zords and such.
where the hell is the og giant robot, Supaida-mans Marveller
where the hell are zoids, huh?
Who?
Uh… what the hell are “zoids?” If you mean “Zords,” they’re there.
Where the hell is the robot from the Intergalactic music video?
zoids are giant mechanical dinosaurs that hit each other a lot. this is zoidzilla:
this is krark:
they hate each other.
Pacific Rimjob was okay, but Mechagodzilla is… GODZILLA! as a MECH!
I hear they’re making another Godzilla/Kong movie… it was in the movie news a day or two ago.
Only if it’s Lionforce (or whatever the one is with the Robot Big cats) and not the one with the vehicles. That was too jarring back in the day. You grew attached to the Lion Force robots, then all of a sudden it’s cars and shit with no explanation.
Well, I think it eventually grew on me. I did have a toy of the vehicles as they were formed into the large robot. The Lions? I only had 2. The black one that was the main body, and whichever the yellow lion was for. One of the legs I think.
I loved those as a kid! But it was never a line of toys I could get into, mainly due to their price -it seems like. I think I had the one that was a stegosaurus.
The toy line I almost got into was Inhumanoids. I never got Decompose, and most of the other humans and their vehicles. But I had one of the Ents (tree guys), a Granite (rock guy), and Magma (?). Recalling the cartoon… They were able to stop the main bad guy… Metlar(?).
I guess that’s getting off the subject, but since it kinda got into toys…
Mechagodzilla has… never killed an opponent.
And despite that, he’s still one of the coolest Doppelgängers in Fiction and definitely the coolest giant Robot, that’s pretty rad, hm?
EDIT: he broke Anguirus’ Jaw, that was sick. And he has by far one of the best Themes
Cool looking? Absolutely. Functional? Hell no. Don’t get me wrong, I love MG, but when it comes to being effective, he’s the lowest in the list.
i had a couple of the little ones, but yeah, they were prohibitively expensive. i was more into the uk comic, which was a back-up for spider-man.
i realised much later it was written by grant bleedin’ morrison.
Where the hell is Jet Jaguar?
We do not talk about JJ here!
