What was your favorite side story/project to do in WoA?
  • The heist in New York
  • The murder mystery in Dartmoor
  • Screwing with the Kashmirian in Mumbai

As much as I love messing with the Kashmirian, and solving the mystery in Dartmoor, I gotta go with New York, even though it is technically a bit more boring than the other two, simply because I absolutely love heists!

I love the bank mission, but I was hoping there be a story mission about an actual heist where maybe you can blend in with a group that were planning the robbery and assassinate the target in the process. This could possibly lead to a Heat style shootout. Would’ve been sweet as hell!

While it was fun fixing stuff up for the Kashmirian to eliminate my targets for me, I feel the Dartmoor whudunnit felt more engaging; looking for every single clue and by how one single clue can change the outlook and how it can lead to different outcomes.

Maybe I’m biased because I adore Knives Out, and this level reminded me of it.

kashmirian is the best story thread in the series. if done entirely by proxy, you’re effectively a poltergeist moving (or in one case slightly manipulating) three objects. it’s absurd. practically a twilight zone episode from the kashmirian’s perspective.

And if you use his poison on the Malestrom’s wine glass when he meets his ex, the Kashmirian is technically responsible for, and will take the fall for, all three targets. It’s arguably the best outsourcing option in the series.

Scariest ghost in the Ghostbusters movies

Gotta go with Vigo. The second movie scared the crap out of me as a kid, and Vigo was a huge part of that. Not to mention, the world he wanted to create sounds a lot worse than Gozer just wanting to destroy it, and even his furniture sounds scary as hell:

“On a mountain of skulls, in the castle of pain, I sat on a throne of blood…”

Even as a kid I don’t recall any of them being all that scary, really. I was more scared of the Emperor in Return of the Jedi, frankly.

Put it this way: Vigo and the Emperor would have been buddies.

In as much as anyone would have been buddies with either of them, I agree! That whole rule of two thing really bred a lot of distrust in the Sith I think…

What made you ask about Ghostbusters? Also kudos for including Nanny Janosz in the choices!

I was watching some reaction videos on YouTube this morning with some guys who had never watched Ghostbusters before, and when they got to GB2, I was reminded of how scared I used to be of most of the ghost scenes in that movie, and decided to ask who all thought which ghost is scariest. We all know that Gozer and Vigo are the heavy hitters of the series, but who scares you more? I was curious.

Which phrase that marks the point when a series has run out of ideas and starts its decline do you prefer?
  • Jumping the Shark (Happy Days season 5 episode Hollywood Part 3)
  • Nuking the Fridge (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull)

Nuking the fridge just sounds so funny, and represents such an unintentionally funny, yet enjoyably over-the-top moment, I had to go with it.

Fonzie jumping over a shark was both stupid and unnecessary. Indy surviving a nuclear blast in a lead-lined fridge was clever and amusing. It’s not about which phrase I prefer. If the game/series veers off into stupid territory, it jumped the shark. If it becomes great, it’s nuked the fridge.

Re: “Nuking the Fridge”

First time I’ve ever heard it. Then again, I guess I don’t keep up with all the new fangdangled diddlyboops.

Not exactly a great moment. It’s a bit too much and marks how the rest of the movie feels.

Eh, I liked it, and the rest of the movie. It’s Indiana Jones, not Shakespeare. It should be campy and fun and not take itself all that seriously.

Say you just started working at a retail job, lots of customers, and today is your 4th day working there. Is it acceptable to call in sick due to reasons related to stress/pressure in the body?

I’m saying no, not to my own sensibilities, but those of the employer. Unless they’re a mom ‘n’ pop business owner who used to work as psychologists or grief counselors, I don’t know any employer who would allow a sick day that soon in without requiring a doctor’s note of actual illness.

If you need to call off work then you should do so, but don’t expect it to sit well with your boss. You may have to put in extra work to make up for it later.
