For the most part I would say yes because the characters bring life to the story. So the more life you put into the characters, the more life they bring into the story.

@Heisenberg It just occurred to me that you’re talking about the first Die Hard movie when I thought you were talking about the third one. Got the brothers names confused, my mistake.

No one ever talks about the second one :joy:

Oh, the second one is still good, it’s just… Not as good as the first and third movies IMO. Makes it the worst of the best.

In first place Die hard 3

In second Die Hard 1

Last is Die Hard 2

Might not be popular opinion but I thought Die Hard 4 was good. Of course, no one talks about the fifth one.

I stopped watching after 4. It was fun but I saw it going the way of mission impossible. I stopped with those after 3. Entertaining for sure, but I didn’t need any more Tom Cruise Spy Master or Bruce Willis NY Cop in my life.

The fourth one is underrated IMO, I’ve always enjoyed it.

I actually like the second one the most. I consider the first one the “best”, but no. 2 is my personal favourite which I regularly watch. Guess I´m a sucker for the snowy airport setting (wink wink IOI).

Third one is definitely good, but it never clicked with me as much as the first two.

Agree on that! It´s really good fun, just probably shouldn´t have been called/part of Die Hard…

And for good reasons. One of the trashiest flicks I can think of, that never should´ve seen the light of day (makes sense, given that it was written by our very own favourite, Skip Woods).

Aw mate, I think you´re missing out there. You should at least watch the fifth one. Best of the series in my book and an all-around fantastic film. The fourth one is really good fun, and while the sixth one suffers from the Spectre syndrome in trying to have this “very personal, emotionally impactful story fitting in as many franchise characters as we can”, it still dwarfs the majority of the competition in the action scenes department (plus, spoiler, Henry Cavill plays a bad guy, which is worth the watch alone).

My issue with the series is that, despite Hunt having repeatedly proven that he´s the good guy who bends the rules solely for the purpose of stopping the bad guy(s), pretty much every MI movie features a random [insert appropriate intelligence agency] official who considers him a rogue element and bad guy, only to be proven wrong at the end of the film :joy: (reminds me of a certain Hitman plot trope, lol)

The entire Craig series is like that. Spectre and No Time to Die however I found immensely annoying in that regard…

OHMSS is definitely a good shout in that regard. As for the other films in the series, the one other I can think of is Licence to Kill.

The third and sixth ones probably play on that note the most. Fourth and fifth certainly emphasize character development, but it´s more focused on other characters rather than Hunt himself.

In what way would you say? In his relationship towards Marion, or…?

yeah. indy starts the film as a selfish womaniser and overall skeptic, who considers the ark nothing more than superstition. by the end, he shows he cares for marion and respects the power of the ark. he basically avoids becoming belloc or whatever his name was.

oh, and he confronts his fear of snakes in a big way.

@schatenjager pulled some good ones out tho. action stuff certainly doesn’t appear to need character development to be satisfying. i imagine it is because it’s dealing in archetypes. john wick and the good, the bad and the ugly spring to mind now too.

I’ll go with Sierra Knox. She’s the only one we know of that doesn’t have a potential history of turning against anyone if she’s working with you. Even her father, arguably the person on this list who is least interested in using his company for evil purposes, is at least suspected of having his business partner taken out. Sierra is mentioned as being gifted with running the money side of the business, and as long as she doesn’t see you as a rival or a threat to her relationship with her father, I see no threat coming from her. Money to be made with her on your side.

I went with the lawyer (one of anyway). It’s not a bad idea to have a lawyer to deal with that sort of stuff. My business would inevitably fail anyway so probably not a bad idea to at least be protected, legally.

Vick for three reasons

  1. he’s cool and
  2. he managed to stop a whole full blown KGB investigation and finally
  3. did i mention he’s cool?

I dunno, Morgan and Yates seem a bit too cutthroat to me to be reliable. Maybe Yuki, maybe. There’s no indication she’s dishonorable as a lawyer, I’ll give her that.

Arthur Edwards just about bankrupted the head of Providence and positioned himself to become the new leader who has power over everyone on that list. I’d go with him.

Make sure you’re useful to him.

The way I played the game, Edwards is the only target that is actually still alive, so he is probably the only left that could be a partner…except he has no idea who he is. I wonder if that affects his business sense?

Sierra is a tought cookie but I have experience befriending people like her so my choice.

The same can be said about everyone else on that list. They’re all dangerous people who are more likely to fuck us over rather then go into business with us.

Yeah, its better to ditch him after that. :joy:
