by Agent 17 in category Hitman, "the movie" on November 21st, 2007
After much anticipation, the Hitman motion picture was released today in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines.
The early reviews of the film have been generally negative. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a score of 12%, and the MetaCritic score is at 36, denoting "generally negative reviews."
However, Roger Ebert gives it three out of four starts and the respected Washington Post calls it "the best movie derived from a violent computer game we've ever seen," although that may not be saying much.
Hitman will be released tomorrow in Australia and three other countries, but will not reach a larger worldwide audience (including Denmark, home of Io Interactive, and the Netherlands, home of HitmanForum) until the end of the month. A full list of release dates can be found on the Internet Movie Database.
Is Hitman a bad movie? Or will fans of the game series enjoy it? Does it do the games enough justice? Go see it for yourself and then post your own review in the forums.
