I’m pretty sure that’s part of the original Bond character from the books?
Trailer looks great. Espionage with some fun to it. There is a TON of Hitman DNA all over this, but it’s also very obviously distinct.
I expect a huge hit for IOI.
Speak for yourself my guy? I’m sure many hardcore Bond fans appreciate the detail.
The only real Bond is Pierce Brosnan and thats a fact.
Switch 2 is listed at the end of the trailer though.
Debatable, but that’s at least in the right medium.
Ian Fleming’s input on the character had very little involvement in what we got in the film franchise, and those are the sole reason why the Bond property is a runner up to Godzilla’s. It doesn’t matter how he drew the character, that’s not the character that people learned to love.
Yep, not saying it has been scrapped. Just pointing out it’s missing from there.
Very debatable. There are a lot of people who can claim credit to helping lay the foundation of cinematic Bond, but there absolutely is Fleming baked into cinema’s Bond. It’s utterly ignorant to say that he had little bearing.
There is a reason why EON bought the rights to Casino Royale in the 2000’s so they could make the Daniel Craig movie.
Is that the Aston Martin V8 Vantage?
Oh hey, whose voice was of that reciptionist at 1:10
Young James Bond looks so unusual. He looks more like a Matt from 4th Indiana Jones movie. I like the idea and it makes sense that Bond should begin his career in his 20’s rather than in 40’s but it just looks a bit off.
IOI just posted on their site; 007 First Light Announcement
Movie Bond is more light-hearted, more suave and fashionable, more emphasis on his choice of drink and gun, less misogynistic (believe it or not), less cold, and was more prone to using gadgets and kicking ass. All of these are the qualities of the character that the majority of not only fans but people even just familiar in passing with the character associate with him. People eager for a new and exciting game about 007 are not looking for the tired cynic of the books, and adding that annoying scar does nothing but emphasize the differences of the two versions, rather than focusing on the one that is expected to be seen.
Wait is that real?? What the fuck?? Coca Cola??
I hope by “standalone” they mean in regards to any other source material, because if this turns out as good as it looks, there’s likely to be a sequel, so it won’t be so standalone. Otherwise, good to have the context on his age and where he’s starting this off from.
The new Bond feels pretty generic, to be honest. It might’ve been more compelling to cast a recognisable actor, given it’s an MGM property. Graphics and mechanics look solid, definite Hitman vibes, but I wish it had a more distinct identity.
Right now, nothing really stands out. Still, I’m hoping it turns out well.
Muh James Bond can’t get hurt or scratched he’s too precious
protecc the little one
???
Um really dude??
Yeah me too, but blame Social Media and always-default auto playing videos. Marketers gonna marketing and I guess that’sthe official version IOI uploaded to their channel.
Thankfully the State of Play didn’t start with that so I was happily surprised when I keyed in that it was the 007 reveal.
“Footage in-engine using Glacier” was one of the first fine-print bits of the trailer, took me a few seconds till I had a big grin on my face – yay IOI, its James Bond Time!!
World of difference between being hurt or scratched, and having an actual scar.
I swear he’s got the face of an actor I’ve seen, but I can’t figure it out.
EDIT: I’ve figured it out, he looks like Patrick Gibson, who plays young Dexter in Dexter Original Sin.
Ehhh, kinda?
We didn’t get much of an extended look at his performance, just a bunch of different scenes and snippets of gameplay.
Casting/modeling off an unknown actor could be great for the guy’s career and I’m sure IOI is going to let us warm up to him over time with pre-release footage and interviews with the guy. I’m open to see more for sure
