Ehhh, kinda?
We didn’t get much of an extended look at his performance, just a bunch of different scenes and snippets of gameplay.
Casting/modeling off an unknown actor could be great for the guy’s career and I’m sure IOI is going to let us warm up to him over time with pre-release footage and interviews with the guy. I’m open to see more for sure
I believe they are planning a trilogy, on the assumption of game 1’s financial success.
That’s not how you spell Timothy Dalton.
At least they’re just for making an IOI account and not some paid DLC or pre-order bonus
Is the On Duty outfit and Gilded Wraith skin just a matter of unlocking them by linking your IO Account to the game when it releases (like the anniversary suits in Hitman)? There doesn’t seem to be an option on the page for existing IO Account holders, just a signup sheet for new accounts.
I like what I see. Just something about the new bond design looks generic action hero to me.
Well, damn… this looks promising, to say the least.
Some nice, big, globetrotting sandbox locations?
Infiltrating fancy events - a chess tournament…
…and a nightclub level?
Stealing a VIP invitation to gain access to private areas?
An instinct-type mechanic (but looks to have reduced ability to see through walls).
Hopefully some swiss-cheese level design?
Classic Bond game gadgets confirmed - laser watch…
And phone taser…
Using a stealth takedown whilst the other guard (left) is incapacitated - an emetic poison type effect?
Improvisation - lobbing a gun at the guard’s head as an alternative non-lethal takedown method.
And, finally, I’m amused to see what looks like young Bond learning from an older, bald agent…
It’s eerie. Any of the locations in those images could have been plucked straight out of WoA itself.
A whole lot of Hitman assets, especially Paris ones hidden throughout this trailer
fun to look around and notice them
Remember when they announced the first WoA Hitman and 47 had an awful boyish face? And it wasn’t even that he looked young it’s just that he looked weird and uncool? Got that same vibe from this trailer which was giving James Bond Junior and, indeed, Hitman more than anything that felt like the 007 I am familiar with.
It looks like it could be fun though. My main concern is it’s hard for me to get excited about a Hitman-styled action game when the action gameplay in Hitman is so completely terrible (idk if that’s a consensus opinion around here but every time I have to shoot my way out of things in Hitman I spend most my time swearing at the controls and the weapons). I assume the action systems will be very different in this and I’m excited to see things like car chases, but if this turns out to be a reskinned Hitman game with more action it’s gonna be a big letdown.
On the bright side, I’m glad to see the alligator pit and some indications that this is going to draw from the camp of the older movies. I think the sense of humor IOI has shown in Hitman makes them a good fit for that. I also think the casual racism in many Hitman games makes them a good fit for the 007 franchise.
Hell yeah it is! It’s either a DBS or a Vantage. During the tunnel sequence, it sounds like it has a V8, rather than the basic Inline 6. Either way, it’s a super cool Bond car that can be found in OHMSS, The Living Daylights, or No Time to Die. Funny thing is, the trailer can’t seem to decide whether Bond should sit in the left hand side or the right hand side of the car. Looks to be a bug we can discover even before the game’s release.

Alright, car time, folks! Bear with me…
First of all, how wonderful to see we might have driving sequence(s) in the game! Hopefully the driving physic is good.
Second of all, notice the white van besides the red Jaguar XK Bond is chasing, it’s the same van that can be found in almost every map in WoA. That’s assets reused alright. Some traffic cars in the tunnel are also taken from WoA.
Image taken from IGCD.
Some other cars:
Unknown sports car in Q’s lab under the cover:
And a Land Rover Defender on the left. This is a model you can see villains driving in No Time to Die.
Also, Bond driving a trash truck. That’s a first.
Anyway, as a long time car and Bond fan, I am very excited for this!
I just hope the licenses are all set in stone. It would be a shame if somewhere a few years down the road they had to replace some of the branded cars because it cost too much/the company refused to renew it.
The instant that plane’s cargo hatch opened and let in the sunlight, I thought…
Nathan Drake?
Seems fun and as others have said it looks bright and upbeat which I am all for in a Bond game. Let’s have a fun lighthearted adventure and then the next hitman can be dark like contracts (=
Side note: and sorry to start the visual complaints already, but does Bond look American? He should not look American but I think he does. I don’t like that.
He has the brainpan of a stagecoach titler
He looks like a Tom Holland or Robert Pattinson type both of whom are British.
Then it’s just me being crazy then! Good!
I still stand by my point of the new Bond face really looks like the Action Genre Hero Guy trope. The facial scar is one thing cause that all things considered accurate to the character, but something about the design looks off.
I’m hoping the character compensates by having a good personality and is well written.
Glad I´m not the only one who felt like it. I don´t necessarily think a more recognisable actor would´ve been necessary, but I concur with a lot of others here that Bond looks rather like your generic American action hero. The Nathan Drake/Tom Holland vibes don´t really help (yeah, Holland´s English, but his only prominent roles so far have been American characters). Just doesn´t come off enough as “Bond” to me (obviously hard to judge based on one trailer, but still…). M doesn´t quite click either. She seems to lack the charisma and natural authority that I expect to see from the character (again, it´s just one trailer, but…).
Don´t get me wrong, it looks fine and I´m sure it´ll be fun one way or another (and I hope it does well both for IO´s sake and the sake of 007 video games in general), but it would indeed be nice if the game had a more distint identity. I can´t but feel a bit dissapointed that they didn´t go for a Cold War setting. I understand that a contemporary one is more convenient, especially where gadgets and tech is concerned, but I think it would´ve made the thing more atmospheric and distinct from the WoA look which this has.
Anyways, it looks like it will (expectedly) have both stealth and action (car chases!!), though the question remains whether it will be more forced/linear in nature, or will allow for more player choice. I´m intrigued to see the gameplay demonstration in summer.
There are, right?? It wasn´t just my imagination
I have my doubts and am especially worried about the 007 licence itself… If the game performs well and gets a sequel, then it´s obviously not an issue (in the foreseeable future), but if it turns out to be only one game, then I´m afraid it will be an issue. Would be nice to know some details on the licence duration from IO (we won´t, but would be nice).
You´re not, he does look American
Having some mixed feelings, not more negative than positive. Just mixed.
First off, their Bond looks like a generic 00’s action hero. I would have gone for more character flavor, more edge. Then again, I remember not initially accepting Craig as Bond before watching Casino Royale. Maybe that’s the case here as well, and he will win you over in the actual game.
The characters around 007 seem good though, believable voice acting.
I don’t get the comments around the internet that it’s a reskinned Hitman. Maybe they’re inevitable. Other than the look of Glacier, this trailer looks nothing like a Hitman game.
The vibe of the game seems pretty generic too. Upbeat action movie stuff, maybe not entirely my personal cup of tea. Again, missing some edge. I would have loved a darker interpretation, but I get that IO wants to do something new.
All this said, I still think it could be a great game. Hitman didn’t excel with cutscenes either, this looks like Hitman 3 cutscenes. The gameplay will be the star!
Oh, and cool to see 007 using disguises, I imagine there will be a more grounded and less OP disguise system in this (to avoid making the gameplay a Hitman copy), but it’s cool that it’s there.
