007 "First Light" News Thread

I was wondering where the last milestone was just last week.
Nice to see they just missed posting about it. And overshot it.
Started to think it slumped and was quietly set aside.


Always pro “going to the MET gala and making a statement” suits.
Bold, but not random silly.
Hitman Pastel Suit and Sangfroid Suit from last year are my favourite template.
This one is safe-ish for it, but good to see that this kind will exist in the game.

(for the curious, it’s not yet on the IOI account, fairly, let’s give it some time.)

Also, an official model of a 007 First Light car is in pre-order at Corgi.

With the kind of Bond modifications you would expect.

A Double-0 agent needs the fastest, most dynamic, and the most striking car when they are on duty. Meet the Aston Martin Valhalla. A hybrid twin-turbo V8 with over 1000 horsepower and a few tactical modifications from Q Branch that you won’t find in the brochure. To drive this, Bond will first have to Earn The Number.


I still hope the game plays by replaying the “scenes”/segments and not just the destination/chapters, and by creating new scenario in each settings of them.

“Tactical Simulations”.

Here, please give me new chases, or even time trial, or car takedown mission on a larger-and-more-open-than-we-think-above-the-scripted-chase-of-the-story roads of Slovakia, playable with a choice of vehicles.

If the game is as modal in its gameplay as it looks, let’s make the better out of it.

Gotta love how gamey it is to outfit their top secret agents with top obvious vehicles that are prone to be destroyed and wrack a big hole into the budget. :joy:

Still the suits look all nice so far. I doubt he will get any funny looking outfits like 47, so we are in for an even larger number of fine suits.

The in-game suit probably looks like ass though. Just based on what some of the WoA suits look like compared to promo art.

Also, do we think this on the FAQs basically confirms an online mode? Includes “online” in the question, but completely avoids it in the answer.

When Covid slowed all of Hollywood down Omega couldn’t delay the No Time to Die Seamster any longer b/c they had made a bunch of them instead of other watches so they just put them out with all the fanfare for a film not yet out and so you could actually buy and wear James Bonds new watch before he even got to wear it on film. I can’t remember how long the gap was but IIRC it was over a year in advance that the watch hit shelves.

Zero Caffeine? What!!! That’s not good. I don’t hate Coke Zero, prefer Brazilian, the Mexican glass bottles, or strict kosher (all still use real sugar instead fructose corn whatever), but no caffeine… might as well not drink it lol

Game looks great. Acting sounds great. Multiple knucklebiting driving sections. Close combat improvisation. Swingin’ and danglin’ and newfangled gadgets. I love it. Let’s do it! But don’t pre-order.

I may be wrong, but I think the idea is that in a digital distribution model, pre-ordering makes no sense beyond giving the game company money earlier for little benefit to the consumer.

In a physical distribution world, pre-ordering reserved a copy of the game for you so on release day you were guaranteed to get to play that game. If the store ran out of copies, you weren’t left to wait until they got more. There is only a finite quantity of discs produced. The extra stuff that came with pre-orders (like merchandise, codes for downloadable stuff, etc.) were a bonus, but not the entire purpose of pre-ordering.

For distribution via download, there is no finite quantity of media - every single person on the planet would theoretically be able to download and play the game on release day. The sole benefit that the consumer gets pre-ordering a digitally distributed game is whatever the publisher decides to add - and it won’t be physical stuff anymore either. Rarely is the idea of an extra suit or gun or whatever worth the cost and you’re only giving the vendor/game company money earlier for no other reason.

In a sense, you’re just giving the vendor/game company a free, no-interest loan until they decide to actually release the game (and if the game is delayed after you’re ordered it, you get no compensation for that).

I dunno if I’ll preorder or not, since I’m not really craving the items offered for it, and they’ll likely be released later anyway like was happens most of the time.

@Heisenberg Essentially you’re paying for a product before assurances that it’s any good. I have every confidence that the game will be great, but I also urge people to wait for gameplay and technical reviews before buying a piece of software. Game publishers create this sense of FOMO (pre-order now to play 24-72 hours before everyone else!) to manipulate the consumer. I dunno, I think it’s kind of skeevy, in the digital download age.
