007 "First Light" News Thread

Man I have no idea how I’m going to play this game. I have a Steam Deck and a Series S. I’m not in the market to buy a 5 year old “next gen” console for $150 more than when it was released. I guess I’ll buy the game on Xbox and maybe attempt to cloud stream it? Gah.

I’m more of a “patient gamer” than one who plays current titles with beefy hardware, but this is the one new release I do want to play.

Wait if you have a Series S then what’s the issue? It’s being released for the Series S, no?

I realise I’m probably missing something as a non-Xbox player. Are you worried about how well it’ll run?

007 First Light DualSense available for preorder April 17th launching same day as First Light

Pretty much yeah. It’ll run functionally on SS but with limitations. If I stream it, it’ll run better but also be at the whim of the internet.

I’ll surely end up playing it natively on SS. I’m just a little worried because general hardware specs seem a tad high for this game.

Whelp, at least the cans look interesting… there’s that, right??
(Cue the cans having “007” all over it and then sorta incongruously talking about their three 0s of calories/sugar/caffeine)

I bought some 007 cola cans as well under the impression there were skins but the contest just seems to be a chance to win an xbox.

The colour scheme is nice. The 007 logo and the lines radiating from it ruin the controller though.

The skins are only in certain countries. The whole promo is just very, very weirdly executed. Apparently the skins are an actual DLC redeemed on storefronts rather than being through an IOI Account (source: random people on Discord). Why? When there is a much better alternative that would allow the skins to, presumably, carryover with 007FL progression carryover via the IOI Account?

I guess the good news is that since the skins are an actual DLC, it’ll probably be minimal effort for IO to list it for sale in the future. Unless their deal with Coca-Cola has locked them away forever.

I hope that we’ve all learned the lesson from WoA that 100% completion plus having all available unlocks in-game is either (1) a fool’s errand; or, at best, (2) way more trouble than it’s worth, where you basically have to accept you’re going to live a thrison-like purgatorial existence to achieve.

Once bitten, twice shy.

:joy: I’ve pulled myself out of this particular rat race - I haven’t pre-ordered the game nor do I have plans to buy it later.

I swore off it last year when I was in at the peak of my “I’m starting to hate IO” phase. I was starting to feel myself getting worn down by Arti being a shining beacon of light over the last 5-6 months - but then this Coke crap came up and I started heading slightly back in the other direction.

Rollercoaster.

I’m actually genuinely delighted to hear this! We don’t know each other IRL but I’ve seen what lengths you’ve gone to trying to stay on top of the WoA and I’m really glad you’ve decided not to chase a very similar dragon when First Light arrives. Love to hear it!

Not me. I want the game and so I’ll be getting the game, I have a very narrow scope for principles when it comes to my entertainment. That being said, I will not be pursing 100% completion or item unlock ownership either, because I’m not invested enough in the 007 property to care about that with a game, unlike with Hitman. I’ll get what items I can get initially with easy unlocks but last a certain point of effort, it can stay inaccessible for me as far as I’m concerned.

Not a fan of how this coca-cola promotion gets you to download a tracker-ridden app just so you can take a photo of a long receipt that the camera can’t even detect the phrase “Soft Drink” on :sob:
If the manual review doesn’t work this might end up being the most disappointed I’ve been with IOI after the exclusive ducks!! At least give me a chance not to win lmao

I think I’m in the camp of “wait to see what the overall reception is like”. If the gameplay is sort of like Hitman, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, but for me James Bond peaked in the 70s/80s and I’ve had trouble keeping interest in the franchise. I haven’t even seen the more recent ones. The Connery/Lazenby/Moore movies were right up my alley but I never really got into the Dalton/Brosnan/Craig ones. Long time users of this forum might also know that I actually enjoy the Niven and Sellers led Casino Royale too…although that certainly won’t be referenced in this game.

The Craig movies are Hitman WoA before Hitman WoA was Hitman WoA. As for Brosnan, GoldenEye should be seen at least once. The rest of them. :man_shrugging:

Genuinely, there are people who don’t think that From Russia With Love is the best in the series? :exploding_head:
