Madness. Then again, I suppose the world also contains the kind of messed-up individuals who would sometimes select the Tactical Gear with Hunter’s Hat outfit out of choice, so I guess we all live in a big ol’ melting pot.

Well, it is the BEST outfit, after all…

I actually do prefer Goldfinger to From Russia with Love though.

Which isn’t an unreasonable take :+1: (The second sentence; not the first, clearly.)

If anyone wants to cheat on the test the correct answers are listed here.

Wow, two wrong answers in one presentation. Impressively efficient. :winking_face_with_tongue:

Crazy talk. «On Her Majesty’s Secret Service» is the best bond. And every Craig Bond is also great. Can’t stand the Connery/Moore Bonds anymore (different reasons).

Is someone tickling you?

Neil Purvis and Robert Wade. And I’m not enjoying it.

Awww… every Bond has its charm. But some are better than others. I’m biased. My favorite franchise. Not saying the Connery/Moore Bonds are really bad, but they just didn’t age well. And Moore is too funny for my taste. Love the seriousness of the Craig Bonds. Closer to the books. Anyway: one of the best parts of any Bond movie is the soundtrack. Have all of them on vinyl. True masterpieces (at least most of them).

To be fair, it ist pretty hard to not like anything that has David Niven or Peter Sellers in it.

With the new ones, I would recommend to watch “Casino Royale” and “Skyfall” and stay as far away as possible from “Quantum of Solace” and “Spectre”, because they both are kind of shit. “No Time To Die” is somewhere in between. Okay movie and an okay end for the Craig era.

On the other hand, it wasn’t all gold back then either, was it? I started a rewatch last year (a slow one, “Diamonds are Forever” is next) and as much as I love “From Russia With Love” and “Goldfinger” I for example just found “Thunderball” surprisingly boring.

What are you talking about? Quantum of Solace gets a worse rep than it deserves which I genuinely don’t understand, and SPECTRE has Christoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes, and that’s and enough right there.

Quantum: Shaky cam action shit with an unfinished script (due to the writer’s strike that was happening at the time) and completely forgettable villain.

Spectre: Formulaic plot that tries desperately to tie all the Craig movies together, and ends with a boring backstory for Blofeld, which takes everything interesting away from that character; oh, and Waltz is overrated as hell. Yes, he can play a good villain, but seen that enough (and this version of Blofeld isn’t a good villain). And Fiennes can’t save that mess, but that is not his fault. Nobody could have saved it.

That aside and you’ve got the remaining hour and a half of the movie. As I said, a bad repair doesn’t deserve.

Don’t know where that one’s coming from, he finally has a reason to hate Bond other than just being mad that his plans were foiled like an angry child.

And Waltz can do a lot more than be a good villain, as Django Unchained shows.

Don’t know, where that one and a half hour is supposed to be. There is no compelling story in there, the action is mediocre at best. Except for the scaffolding scene, which is kind of nice. But for example whoever edited the car chase should never ever get an editing job again. That whole thing has so many cuts, that is absolutely not watchable. It is far from being the worst movie ever, but it is not a good one either. Not by any means.

Great, he gets an uncreative backstory we have seen a billion times, to make things personal, and has a screen time of 10 minutes, to rush through that stupid shit. I don’t even blame Waltz here, because they gave him shit and no time to do anything with it. But they shouldn’t have given him that shit in the first place. If you want to make things more personal, at least be creative with it and don’t pull the lame past-relationship-card (Hitman pun intended). It’s just plain boring.

And yes, Waltz can do more. But he can do even less. I’m from germany, and I saw him in many things long before Tarantino got him - he is on screen since the 70s - and lets just say, that wasn’t all prize worthy. As I said, he can be good. but he also can be the complete opposite. Therefore: overrated.

I just read through the Fleming Bond books and, hot take, I don’t think Blofeld was a very engaging villain there, either

Just to make that clear, I never thought Blofeld was a great villain either (in the old movies, I don’t know the novels), but what they did with the reincarnation by Waltz was contraproductive, because it just made him a jealous moron with a weak reasoning. If someone spends all his money and power, all his live even, to ruin another mans life, I expect more then the worn out backstory they gave him in the Craig Bonds.

SPECTRE is the worst - by a distance - movie in the Eon series, IMO. Absolutely terrible, and even those 2 titans of the screen can’t save it.

Man, where are people getting these views from?

I think I’m going to buy this. I don’t need it but I want it

I know right? It’s almost like personal preferences and opinions aren’t a universal constant or something! People like what they like and they aren’t wrong to do so, even if that doesn’t necessarily jive with the views of others.
