Iām looking forward to playing what is essentially a Hitman game with a character who is not bound by the parameters of perfection (which 47 canonically is), meaning I can let go and be a bit⦠messier, shall we say, with Bond, because heās used to that. I can be the sledgehammer for a change instead of the scalpel and know it doesnāt defy the characterās defining characteristics.

I hope they use stuff from this for the next HITMAN, like the way he kicks a gun into his hands off the ground at around 2:45 instead of it just appearing in his hands. Clearly thereās stuff pulled directly from WoA into this though (like the electrocution moment), so I see no reason why the next HITMAN wouldnāt pull from this.
What do you think is gonna be the Hitman Easter Egg? Bond getting 47ās suit as an unlock? The ICA insignia being seen on a weapon? A bald man with what appears to be a tattoo on the back of his head flipping burgers in the background while Bond talks to someone? You know something is going to show up. And while I know they already sort of did this with Le Chiffre, Iām waiting for Patrick Gibson to be an ET in WoA as Bond himself, or some kind of expy.

Pink Mk II stickers on half the gear.
Probably something subtle, like Codename-24 mentions below, a suit reward sounds like the type of thing it might be, but Iām hoping to see a straight up background cameo, either an NPC or character in the background of a scene. Maybe a subtle passing the torch scene where they pass eachother in a hallway and sort of silently acknowledge eachother? (not that I want the HITMAN games to be replaced by 007 games, but it could be a cool moment).
Lol, just yesterday⦠asked and answered I guess ![]()

TacSim seems like a neat bunch of small challenges, though hopefully not all to replay with.
They mention āover timeā new gadgets will be developed, so⦠maybe thereās a New Game Plus option to take those late-game gadgets into earlier missions?
Also man, they really love that āPenetration Testerā bluff clip huh ![]()
I wonder if that system works on procedurally generated names and jobs depending on which kind of restricted area youāre caught in. Thatād be neat.
Agh, that one line though: And Remember, at IO Interactive, the launch of a game is only the start
So⦠are they just a full live-service developer now? Is that the expectation weāre setting for themselves?
Ohh my
I worry that this is the only interesting means of gaining access. I mean, I donāt expect this to be as open and āsandboxyā as WoA, at the same time I donāt see myself replaying this anywhere near as much as WoA if itās just a linear series of obstacles with a few options to give the sense of doing it your way.
If so, I strongly advise that they make this the last game they develop under that model.
You know what, that might be the most likely option. Subtle, at least compared to how else they could do it.
I still slightly bet that theyāll have David Bateson as a random bald NPC with lines somewhere, but weāll have to see..
I dunno, the bit they mentioned about finding and making allies in the field to help you sounds like it could have cool āscripted opportunitiesā like Hitman had.
Befriend a journalist and have her escort you through security, if one clip is any indication.
I should hope with IOIās expertise in making Swiss Cheese maps for years now, they can at least apply that to linear levels enough, at least 3 or more entry ways or so, again weāll see⦠![]()
The tease of there being armoured and higher-tier enemies you need to disarm or disable with gadgets is interesting. And shooting them in different spots doing different effects.
Hopefully means thereās more expression and diversity in how to handle combat than Hitmanās rigid ways.
I can already imagine someone setting up one big distraction/trap bonanza as they alert one enemy and let all the dominoes (enemies) fall⦠![]()
Plus one clip where Bond smashes someone against a table, grabs something, and smacks them again. Feels like a mechanic Uncharted 3 had with contextual special melee actions. (The fish market being a standout)
Still not much of a fan of the UI really. The big circle on the side is kinda distracting. Though I still donāt have much info on what exactly is what in the HUD, whatās needed ā¦
Just caught this video. Wow, it showed a lot! Previews are definitely right around the corner. Thereās also a confidence to this video that proves they think theyāve made something special. The game is looking really, really good. Itās loosey-goosey Hitman meets Sleeping Dogs meets a little Uncharted shooty shooty meets a dash Deus Ex im-sim gadgetry. I am very excited. And I think the game will be longer than what weāve seen, and Lenny Kravitz will not be the big bad.
Nothing will stop Lenny from being a villain in my heart.
I think its going to fail with this game.
At the end of the day, its a single player narrative-driven game. The type of game that people pick up play through the entire campaign, then try out some of the side modes the game has - and then they quickly move onto another game and it kinda fades away and becomes a title that is āoh yeah, that was a thingā.
Theyāll get a small core player base that is going to engage with it for sure, but I think the live service component isnāt going to work out like it did for WoA.
I donāt see that working either, except they have something in there, that keeps players invested. Campaign and a Challenge Mode wonāt do that. It would need something like a Mission Editor (Contracts), Endless Mode (Freelancer) and other things that people can grind their teeth into. But then it is only one game. I mean, how good would something like Freelancer work with only Hitman 1 and its six maps and few items it had back then? It would get stale very fast. You need content already in the game for that to work.
Iām not completely against the Games-as-a-Service-Model, but you have to build a great foundation for it from the start. Just throwing new gadgets and cosmetic suits no one needs around every few weeks wonāt do that. At least not for me.
Unrealistic, but if they had the rights, they could tap into the nostalgia and add former Bond actors as playable characters to encourage replaying the campaign.
So, Iāve only watched the first trailer and this one, not really wanting to see a lot of the promotional material before the game. I like how much the Hitman DNA is just drenching this game. But, based on both trailers and the knowledge that this is Bondās origin story (for this version), Iām wondering: Will Bond even be 007 until the end of the game? Is the whole game basically a live version of what 47 went through in the ICA Training Facility to become a field agent? Bond is just being prospected for the 00 program and beating the game means heās accepted into it? Or will he become 007 partway through the game and actually be the agent throughout the rest?
This is the origin story game where you

So he will not be 007 until towards the end of the game.
This seems obvious to me. Am I under-thinking things? Or are you maybe overthinking them?
