Experience 007 First Light in a whole new light with Path Tracing. Together with NVIDIA, you can now enjoy this re-imagined story with serene RTX graphics and up to 280 FPS.
Damn, hoped it would include some more content as well. Hopefully it’s not too long a wait before we get some more content for the tac-sim. Though I guess they might be holding it for James Bond Day October 5th?
Path tracing does look great though, but I think I’d prefer the smooth gameplay over having it. I’ll have to see how it runs when I get home.
“Just to manage some expectations: Today’s update is only regarding Path Tracing, but rest assured, that we are also working on a bigger update featuring some of the most requested features coming to 007 First Light, which we hope to ship in a couple weeks.
In the meantime, we will address emerging issues tied to the Path Tracing update with dedicated Hotfixes if necessary.”
At least this will likely cause more pressure for them to release the Coca Cola skins as a paid DLC. At the moment with the skins being Tac Sim only, most seem to forget they exist and don’t really bother changing the suits.
But once things open up so you can use them in the campaign, I suspect people will start getting a bit more vocal on that again.
I mean this seems pretty straightforward to me? Just an announcement that new game content is coming October 1st. It’s not an announcement on Thursday where we have to wait longer for content.
I could see it be with the “we mostly hotfixed the game as needed, and put everything impactful, intentional, for a future single package” patch IOI hinted at.
I don’t know if it could be as big as NG+, photo mode, or a choose your suit option.
At minimum I could see a better loadout selection. (some of the level require to go way too far back)
I could see it as a tacsim integration, to ease it in, and giving upgrades and weapon selection in addition to the outfit, while guiding the player to have most of their time in the Live Service-ish environment and its hooks. Also leaderboards. (and possibly a selection skipping the story/traversal part to keep only the gameplay ones - a “Speedrunner’s delight” play)
(in general 007FL needs better menuing though)
(at least I hope it will fix the alternate control schemes bugging out the setpieces, the Hitman scheme still bugs the Greenway sniper support, and the Wreckie setpiece).
Good thing IOI is doing it now.
I have pre-installed AC8, and my storage is full.
007 First Light is still installed, but it’s my presumed next one to go if needed.
